THINKING OF TRAINING FOR MINISTRY?

In the crowds and bustle around Clapham Junction, people are on a journey and many are looking for a home. At St Mark’s Battersea Rise we are a family together coming home to God. We want to be changed by His Word, to live in the power of His Spirit, and to be His hands and feet in our community.

For several years, ministry trainees have been an invaluable part of our lively and dynamic staff team - we’d love you to consider whether God is calling you to join us in 2020!

WHO’S IT FOR?The aim of the trainee year is to equip men and women for

gospel ministry. We’re excited to raise up the next generation of future leaders, both in the church and wider society.

Ministry trainees should be committed disciples of Jesus who are growing in Christian maturity. Some experience of serving

in ministry is essential (e.g. leading Bible studies, children’s/youth work, CU leadership), as is the desire to develop

leadership potential.

Recent trainees have come to us from as nearby as the St Mark’s congregation, and as far away as India and North

America. Having been on our team, some have returned to the workplace, others have trained for ordination, and some have

never left!

WHAT’S INVOLVED?The trainee scheme has three basic dimensions:

1 - MINISTRY INVOLVEMENT

Each trainee has the opportunity to focus on one or two ministry areas, supported by the relevant ministry leader.

These include: • kids • youth • community outreach • Alpha • worship • graphic design/media Check out our website to see what excites you!

In addition you’ll join us for daily prayers and our weekly staff lunch.

2 - MINISTRY SUPPORT

Trainees are essential to the smooth running of St Mark's life, and help serve the church family with setting up and packing down for events and courses, admin and facilities.

3 - MINISTRY TRAINING

To get the most out of the year, our trainees also get input on Bible, theology and leadership at either HTB College, the Cornhill Training Course or a similar course. We’ll cover the fees.

HOW DOES IT WORK?MONEY? This is a voluntary role, but a monthly contribution towards expenses is offered if required (£450 p/m). Fees for training courses are also provided.

ACCOMMODATION? We aim to sort accommodation with a church family if it’s appropriate.

TIMINGS? The trainee year runs from September 2020 through to July/August 2021, with the possibility of staying on for a second year.

With the full support of this fantastic staff team and church I have had so many opportunities to grow in faith and to step out of my comfort zone. Wherever God leads next, I know that I have gained a wealth
