Qantas Centenary

In 2020, Qantas – Australia’s own ‘Flying Kangaroo’ – celebrates its centenary. Founded in 1920 in Winton, Queensland, Qantas started business with two aircraft and three staff, providing vital support to isolated graziers.

In collaboration with Qantas Airways Ltd, the Royal Australian Mint presents this set of eleven 2020 $1 Coloured Uncirculated Coins. Each coloured coin features an aircraft from the Qantas fleet over the century. The eleventh coin pays

homage to the original Australian Kangaroo Penny, the inspiration for the Qantas Flying Kangaroo logo.
