HIKING• Hiking is an outdoor activity. Often a group of people are walking on mountains, trails, paths, hills and gorges .Hikers generally carry water, food and a map in their backpack before they start.
• Also there is another type of hiking which refers to difficult walking through dense forests, undergrowth or bushes where forward progress requires pushing vegetation aside. Here in Kilkis you can go hiking in the hill of Agios Georgios and mountains Paiko, Beles and Mavrovouni
SWIMMING
Swimming is one of the most popular sports in the world. Swimming is a water sport which can be practiced by everyone and it doesn’t need any special equipment. You can even take part in the Olympics if you are a very good athlete. Most of the pools are situated in Thessaloniki especially in the University Campus. It is 45 km far from Kilkis and there is a bus every 30’ minutes.
MOUNTAIN BIKE
Mountain bikes are typically ridden on single track trails, fire roads, logging roads, and other unpaved environments. The sport has many types of mountain biking such as cross-country (XC) biking, all-day endurance biking, Freeride-biking, downhill mountain biking. In Kilkis there are at least 3 cycling clubs that organize every weekend bike excursions to villages near Kilkis in 20 Km radius. The athletes train mostly in paths at the hill of St. George.
TENNIS
• It is an interesting sport, which raises the adrenaline and forces the player to be in alertness and vigilance. There is a tennis club in Kilkis and Polykastro (a town near Kilkis). At the establishments of Kilkis tennis club there are 4 tennis courts.
• Every year in august a European tournament takes place for children under 16 years old.
