MISAWA INTERNATIONAL CLUBThis club has been the driving force in promoting international events in Misawa, following the present trend of society: “The Internationalization of Local Cities” since its establishment. They plan and carry out various programs of cultural and personal exchanges throughout the year. The club respects the cooperation of the American community in Misawa, because it is the key to success for further development and expansion of their activities. It was established in 1987 and is the main sponsor of Japan Day and American Day.

JAPANESE/AMERICAN FRIENDSHIP CLUB

This club was organized in 1980 with the purpose for Americans and Japanese to learn each other’s language, culture and way of

life through exchange activities. Presently the club has about 50 American and Japanese members. Club members, their families and friends go on ski trips, visit the Hirosaki Cherry

Blossom Festival, hike, enjoy fireworks at Lake Towada, help Japan Day and American Day events, participate in the Misawa Festival and conduct volunteer services, such as visiting old folks’ homes and facilities for handicapped

children, as well as assisting with the Red Feather Charity program. The club holds “Japanese and English Speaking Circle” every Friday.
