Miss Agriculture USA is a new non-profit agriculture pro- motion organization featuring Queens of all ages that promote, celebrate and edu- cate about all the diverse aspects of agri- culture. Maas attends West Liberty Middle School and will be in the 6th grade next year. Her agricultural interests include market hogs and she is a second year member of 4-H. She lives on a family farm which includes row crops, cattle and confinement hogs. She will compete at the National Miss Agriculture USA Queen competition to be held in Ohio Saturday, June 29. West Liberty resident named Miss Agriculture USA Queen Payton Maas On Saturday, June 1, several girls ranging in age from 4 to 15 years competed in the 2019 C&S Pageant Systems Inc. program at the Performing Arts Center in Muscatine. Girls competed in private interview in the morning and onstage interview and party dress and gowns in the evening. The queens who were crowned will be involved in community ser- vice in Muscatine and Louisa counties as well as fundraisers to buy Christmas toys, games and puzzles to give to children at local hospitals. The following titles were awarded: Sydney Thomas, 2019 Little Miss Muscatine; No- elia Phillips, 2019 Miss Jr. Muscatine; Stella Deese, 2019 Miss Pre-Teen Musca- tine; Morgan Hodge, 2019 Miss Jr. Teen Muscatine; Pey- ton Yocom, 2019 Little Miss Princess; Sophia Lopez, 2019 Miss Hospitality. The Cooperative awards one year, $1,000 college scholarships to 20 area high school seniors. The Cooperative also an- nounced that Luke Burlage, Nichols, has been named the winner of the Cooperative’s 2019 Youth Tour. The Youth Tour program sends high school students to Wash- ington, D.C., for a week-long stay. During the tour, students learn about electric cooperatives, American history, U.S. govern- ment and develop a greater un- derstanding of their role as an American citizen. The students will participate in National Youth Tour Day, visit with legislators and explore the sights and sounds around the nation’s capital.
