Then in 1920s the birth of the telecommunicationindustry provided the element that would mostdramatically alter Distance learning to real timecommunications. First in 1920s came the capabilityof voice transmission and audio conferencing .Thenvideo transmission allowed students to observe theclassroom activities. Then emphasis is only on Radioand Television till 1970s. By 1970s the world had begun to focus on thepower of computer and then distance learningentered the virtual age. Televisionbeing a versatile communication medium is being used increasingly in the second half of the 20th century by developed as well as underdeveloped countries of the world to meet the growing demands of education. For the sake of it television telecast the educational programs which were carefully designed and produced, those programs proved effective in education. 15. Wecan also take help from videos to educatethe learners. Video especially non-broadcastvideo is one of the most successful mediumused extensively in education and training. It is more popular than lectures Special programs such as teachingskills, demonstrating and illustrating ideas aredeveloped for video tape and used at all levels ofeducation. 16. Teleconferencing is a whole new form of video-based communication via phone lines or satellitebroadcast. With teleconferencing widely separated peoplecan conduct a meeting by typing message attheir terminals. Message may be directed at any subject of theattendees .Attendees may leave at will and findout what they missed when they come back. Ifthey get bored they may shut off at the push of abutton. It is not also necessary for all the attendees to bepresent at the same time and attendance may beanonymous. 17.
