Service Proposal Essay instructions:

1. Write a proposal for a service or activity you would do if chosen as queen.2. Proposal must have between 350-500 words.3. Submit to the office in City Hall before 4:00 p.m. MarchThe queen will receive a $500 scholarship award at the time in the future she enters a college of her choice. Read the attached contract rules — on the basis of all those statements and agreements, I request the Miss Spring City Committee to accept my contract as a participant in the Miss Spring City Competition. Miss Spring City Scholarship Competition Contract Official Rules and Regulations

1. Individuals competing in the Miss Spring City Scholarship contest may also be eligible to compete in the Miss Sanpete County Pageant.

2. The Miss Sanpete County Scholarship Pageant Committee is sponsored by the Sanpete County Fair Board Organization and is franchised by the Miss America Pageant System, therefore agreeing to abide by all the rules of the State and National Miss America Pageants now in effect or as announced hereafter.

3. The time, manner, and method of judging shall be solely within the discretion of the Miss Spring City Judges. The decision of the judges will be final. No scores will be given to contestants, nor ever be viewed or discussed verbally or in written format other than by appointed judges/committee chairs. The judges sign all score sheets.

4. A contestant must be single and never have been married, nor had her marriage annulled, nor may she have co-habitated with a male in lieu of a marriage contract and must not be and never have been pregnant. There will be no history of tobacco, alcohol, or drug usage by any contestant or royalty member. A contestant must be of good moral character and must not have been involved at any time in any act of moral turpitude.

5. In order to be eligible to compete for the Miss Spring City title, you must be at least 16 years old (and to compete for Miss Sanpete, the age is at least seventeen (17) years of age at the time of the Miss Utah competition).

6. A contestant must be of good moral character and shall not have been convicted of any crimes and shall possess talent, poise, personality, good grooming, and intelligence.

7. A contestant must be a citizen of Spring City.

8. The chosen Miss Spring City, 1st runner up and her attendants will be expected to produce a float on which they will ride at the various local parades and to complete their suggested service in a timely manner. This service project or series of projects will be created by Miss Spring City and approved by the Spring City Scholarship Competition committee and the judges.

9. The scholarship awarded by Spring City must be signed and submitted by the candidate, and if required, her parents.

10. By agreement between Miss Spring City and the City, the scholarship money will be awarded to the recipient upon completion of the individual’s committed service and upon showing a receipt of monies paid toward higher education.

11. All decisions made by the judges at the Miss Spring City Scholarship Competition will be final.

12. Judging will be weighted equally in the following areas: resume & essay, and interview. (In other words, the written application will be weighed equally with the interview.)

13. If selected at the competition as a runner-up for the title of Miss Spring City, you must agree to remain available to assume all of the rights, obligations, and commitments of service.

14. If at any time in the competition at which you are selected Miss Spring City and the end of your service project, any facts concerning your eligibility to participate in the program should change, including without limitation your citizenship, marital or parental status, good character and reputation, or if you should become, in the sole judgment of the Miss Spring City Committee, physically unable to perform the duties and obligations relating to this award, the Miss Spring City Committee, in its sole discretion, may determine that you are not eligible to continue to serve as Miss Spring City. In that event, the Miss Spring City Committee may, at its option, forfeit your title and all prizes and awards, of the position of Miss Spring City, subject to the provisions of this contract.

15. You must understand and agree that this contract is a legal document and that if you sign and submit the application to the Miss Spring City Committee it will create legal obligations that will be binding on you. You are agreeing to be bound by this application and contract and its attachments.
