Message from the Chairman, St Andrew’s School Board St Andrew’s is a leading primary school, distinguished by the delivery of tailored quality teaching and learning programmes that build on the unique talents, strengths and success of all students. We will be recognised for this achievement when each of our students can demonstrate that: as individuals, they are confident, resilient, enriched, respectful and responsible; as learners, they are intellectually curious, keen to participate and skilled collaborators; as members of the community, they are inclusive, committed and globally connected; as leaders, they are creative, enterprising and articulate world citizens. St Andrew’s School: is a creative and dynamic learning community committed to educational excellence where all students can achieve their highest potential; aims to foster the individuality of each student in a caring, nurturing and Christian environment; is connected with our community, church and parents and encourages a culture of participation and involvement. Our Values We believe in innovation and continual evolution to be the best school we can be. Celebrating success Our Goals This will be achieved by: Using data in an holistic way to track and analyse student progress. Establishing school wide information and learner management systems. Ensuring technology is seamlessly integrated in teaching which enhances pedagogy. Using emerging technologies effectively to unlock the potential of all. Improving the learning spaces to best meet the needs of the curriculum. Ensuring all aspects of the curriculum are reviewed, optimised and documented as part of the School’s quality assurance and accountability processes. Ensuring technology, learning spaces and curriculum are integrated to maximise the learning potential of all students. Developing student initiatives for leadership. Maintaining high expectations of our learners within a positive learning environment. Supporting students to become knowledgeable and ethical citizens within an ever changing complex world. Building a culture of “inquiry and higher order thinking” that is grounded in action-based research at both a teacher and student level. This will be achieved by: The Mission, Vision and Values are the foundation qualities for the graduates of St Andrew’s School. Having an active Past Students community that honours the past. Ensuring we have an active and engaged community supporting the School. A strengthened culture of parents as partners working together with the School in the learning and aspirations of their child’s future goals. St Andrew’s School enjoys a tradition of success and high achievement, it has an enviable reputation in quality outcomes, a range of learning, co-curricular experiences and community service. The St Andrew’s Strategic Plan 2013–2017 focuses on the continual success of our students as they develop academically, socially, emotionally, physically and spiritually to become responsible global citizens. This Strategic Plan, Inspiring Minds, Building Success and Developing Leaders, sets out our intention for the life of St Andrew’s School for the next five years. The Plan has been developed by the Board in consultation with School leadership, teaching staff, and informed by feedback of staff, students and parents through surveys, focus groups and conversations. St Andrew’s School is committed to outstanding academic achievement, to the development of the whole person through the provision of wide-ranging experiences, and to fostering a diverse and inclusive community with a forward looking focus. Together we will achieve this commitment within a context of a compassionate and resilient approach to life. Our “Values”; Integrity, Creativity, Inclusivity and Celebrating Success , will define our behaviours and the way we approach all aspects of our daily activities at St Andrew’s School and to which we are accountable. Our Strategic Plan honours our past tradition, yet we approach the future with a sense of purpose, optimism and openness, mindful of the many changes occurring around us. We look forward to the future with enthusiasm and passion. Supporting teachers to develop and be challenged in their classroom practice by a performance development programme of assessment that builds capability, skill and expertise. Ensuring the School is a safe and happy place in which to work and learn. Maintaining a safe, inclusive, healthy learning environment. Providing our teachers and leaders with high quality professional development to ensure they are able to deliver a relevant and engaging world class curriculum (including the National Curriculum) which supports all students’ learning. Providing teachers with appropriate performance management feedback which includes reference to the National Professional Standards. Ensuring the effectiveness of the Board is maximised by a review of governance practices and relationships with key stakeholders. Developing a Board succession plan that ensures the long term development and sustainability of the School. We will have a Foundation that is active, strategic and has a successful financial management strategy for long term sustainability and growth. We will continue to focus on improving performance and sustainability, including student outcomes. We will continue to strengthen our financial position, ensuring that the resources are used in the most effective way. We will develop sustainable business practices, prepared for capital opportunities. Garry Winter Message from the Principal Mission & Purpose Vision I am pleased to present the new Strategic Plan for St Andrew’s School. This has been developed in collaboration with Staff and input from surveys of students and parents, which has provided valuable feedback. It is the culmination of a comprehensive process that commenced mid 2012. I am confident that the strategies outlined in this Plan will build upon the great work of the past and ensure the strength and vitality of the School into the future. This will guide and articulate our focus for the coming years, underpinned by our values of Integrity, Inclusiveness, Creativity and the Celebration of Success. We believe that by building on the School’s educational foundations and history we will continue to be a dynamic learning community with a strong vision for primary education, a commitment to high standards of learning and teaching, diversity in co-curricular activities and active community involvement leading to a sense of connectedness within our Community. St Andrew’s School remains committed to inspiring young children from Early Learning to Primary Education and to building on the unique possibilities each child brings to our community.
