Mission

Arts Partners for Learning’s mission is to expand access to arts education for children in the eight counties of Western New York, and to improve the capacity of cultural organizations in these counties to provide quality creative learning programs.

APL Goals

• Expand the capacity of arts organizations and cultural educational institutions, in order to harness the power of arts in education and learning in and through the arts;

• Improve the educational attainment and future success of the region’s young people;

• Provide access to underserved children, artists, ensembles, and arts and cultural organizations;

• Expand service to the area’s wide cultural assets, regardless of size;

• Create centralized, effective and efficient delivery of services;• Ensure future audiences and supporters of the arts and

Booking & Scheduling

• Step 1: Complete Cultural Partner Packet with most up to date contact and pricing details

• Step 2: Review APL Policies & Procedures Handbook

• Step 3: Sign APL Annual Agreement

• Step 4: Tara will contact you about APL schools that are interested in partnering with your organization

• Step 5: Tara will schedule APL Planning Meetings with at partner schools to discuss program elements with teachers and cultural partners. Together we will complete an APL planning guide.

Booking & Scheduling

• Step 6: Confirm dates, times, grades, set up needs, program and curriculum details with Tara and school partner

• Step 7: You will receive a formal confirmation from the Young Audiences office about APL programming dates and times

• Step 8: Execute APL programming at partner school

• Step 9: A member of the APL leadership Team will observe at least one of your programs at the school

• Step 10: When the programs have concluded, Tara will arrange an APL Reflection Meeting with both the cultural and school partners

• Step 11: You will be asked to share any student work, photos, or videos collected and to complete a short survey

Partnership Expectations

• Sign and comply with the APL Policy & Procedures Handbook and Cultural Partner Agreement

• Maintain administrative duties and responsibilities with APL such as completing the APL Cultural Partner Packet and Annual Agreement

• Confirm ensemble personnel and program content with APL

• Provide adequate notice to the APL office and school for tardiness or failure to fulfill a scheduled program

• Wear appropriate dress or costumes and maintain costumes or props

• Exhibit suitable behavior or language

• Receiving high scores or proper comments on program reports and school evaluations

• Appropriate response to constructive criticism from Arts Partners for Learning staff regarding programs

8th Annual Arts Abilities Conference

Full STEAM Ahead: Innovation in the Classroom and Community

Young Audiences in conjunction with Arts Partners for Learning will host the 8thAnnual Patricia Cotsen Arts Abilities Conference on October 29, 2015 at the Downtown Library in Buffalo, NY. The conference will bring together teachers, teaching artists, cultural specialists, arts and cultural education program providers, and many more who are innovating in their schools and in the community. Western New York’s most innovative educators and artists will share information about their great work in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) programming.

WHERE: Buffalo & Erie County Public Library, 1 Lafayette Square, Downtown Buffalo

WHEN: Thursday October 29, 8:00 am – 1:00 pm

REGISTRATION: Standard tickets will be $50, $30 for partners, and $20 for artists & students. Complimentary tickets are available for volunteers.

Arts Partners for Learning (APL) will host a professional development workshop for area teachers, educators, afterschool providers, arts and cultural organizations and human service providers. Attendees will have opportunities to network with APL partners, experience hands-on workshops, and learn more about successful APL programs including it’s continued expansion throughout Western New York.
