INTERESTED IN BECOMING A CATHOLIC? Part 2
An Overview of the RCIA Parishes welcome new members into the Catholic Church through a process of education, faith sharing, and rituals known as the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). This process includes several stages marked by prayer, study, and discussion. Included are several Rites, which take place within the Mass. The RCIA process fol-lows the ancient practice of the Church and was restored by the Second Vatican Council as the normal way adults pre-pare for baptism. The RCIA is structured over a series of ceremonial steps and periods of learning, and the timing of these may vary for each individual. One may take as much time as he or she needs in the initiation process before becoming ready for full initiation through the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist. Initiation within the Church is a journey of conversion that is gradual and ongoing and suited to indi-vidual needs. It is a process rather than an educational pro-gram and this process takes place within the community of the faithful, the local Church. The RCIA process can be adapted to meet the specific needs of children and youth. Who is welcome to begin the RCIA Journey? All people who are open to discerning their personal ex-perience of faith and to learning more about the Catholic Church are welcome to begin the RCIA process. Many peo-ple come to an awareness of their desire to learn about membership in the Catholic Church in various and different ways. Often it may be a personal faith experience, over-coming personal difficulty and tragedy, or a relationship or discussion with a person of faith which leads to beginning this exciting journey. All that is required is a sincere desire to learn, to grow, and to develop a relationship with God.
If you are even a little bit interested in becom-ing a Catholic, please call Fr Shawn at 781 665
0152.
A note from the balcony...
I wish to extend my deepest gratitude to the clergy, staff, parishioners, and students of St. Mary's Parish and School for the privilege of serving as your Director of Music for these very happy and fruitful years! Saint Mary's is one of the most beautiful jewels of the Arch-diocese, and I am honored to add my name to the list of pastoral musicians who have served! You will always hold a special place in my heart. Wishing you God's richest blessings, Eric Anderson
Twenty-second Sunday in Ordinary Time
Readings for September 1, 2019
Twenty-second Sunday in Ordinary Time
First Reading Sirach 3:17-18, 20, 28-29 Responsorial Psalm Psalm 68:4-5, 6-7, 10-11 Second Reading Hebrews 12:18-19, 22-24a Gospel Luke 14:1, 7-14
Today’s readings highlight the importance of the virtue of humility. In the first reading we hear, “conduct your affairs with humility, and you will be loved more than a giver of gifts.” In the Gospel parable, we hear Jesus say, “everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who hum-bles himself will be exalted.” Humility is a rare quality in today’s world. The humble person recognizes that all we have and all we are is a gift from God. This week take some time to thank and praise God for all that has been giv-en to you so that you may grow in humility.
Readings for September 8, 2019
Twenty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time
First Reading Wisdom 9:13-18b Responsorial Psalm Psalm 90:3-4, 5-6, 12-13, 14 & 17 Second Reading Philomen 9-10, 12-17 Gospel Luke 14:25-33
Jesus gives us clear standards for discipleship. He chal-lenges his disciples and us to be dedicated to the mission. In dramatic language, Jesus tells us that nothing should stand in the way of discipleship. And, that discipleship is demanding – involving sacrifice possible persecution and suffering. Pray that your discipleship and your willingness to be a faithful follower of Jesus will be strengthened!

CLERGY RETIREMENT COLLECTION
Across Greater Boston, we are blessed with priests who enliven and enrich not only our parishes but our surround-ing communities. Through their ministry, they work tireless-ly to bring Christ’s love to all those who need it. Truly, the strength and vibrancy of our parishes and broader commu-nities depend on the health and well-being of our priests. Please support our priests by making a gift to the Cler-gy Health and Retirement Trust at clergytrust.org or by giving generously to the upcoming special collection on September 14/15.

Welcome Back Everyone! I hope everyone had a suc-cessful transition back to school. Just wanted to give a final update on all the facilities projects that were completed over the summer months. The cafeteria has a new tile floor and was repainted. Four additional spaces were repainted. This included the main entrance foyer, the library and the grades 4 and 5 classrooms. Broken floor tiles were replaced around the school. A new fence was put around the Church’s air conditioning equipment in the school yard. The playground has new mulch and the fence was repaired and the sign re-painted. All landscaping and grounds were cleaned up. The major project of replacing all the windows in the school is nearing completion. Although we had hoped it would be completed prior to the start of school, the scope of the pro-ject didn't allow for this. Certainly we will make certain that the students and staff are minimally interrupted as the final stages occur. Please join us at our first School Mass of the year on Wednesday September 4 at 9:00am.
Blessings, Mr Chris Beza, Principal
