An overall masterplan was developed for a site in Syracuse which encompassed a wide variety of programs. There were stringent regulations which needed to be met as part of the brief, the overall approach was the frag-ment the mass of structure in order to negoti-ate a larger internal communal space which connected the differing programs on site.

Components > Comprehensive Research Ecological Evaluation Vegetation Palette Sustainable Dune Practise Conceptual Design Located on the Atlantic Ocean, the site is exposed to the relentless barrage of salt laden winds and sea spray. The ‘dune ecology’ is thus a unique system which needs to be designed with appropriately. I developed a ‘guide to’ sustainable dune interaction which demonstrates the rich plant diversity and ephemeral qualities of the dune system.

There were significant con-straints on the site which required an in depth analysis of the landscape to determine the best strategy for the proposal. In conjunction with VDM (eng), a sophiscated series of G.I.S data was compiled which lead to a successful Masterplan.

Diana Balmori conducted a week by week ‘graphic representation’ workshop which was developed to “push the idea of landscape representation”. During my time I developed a series of representational images aimed to blur the egdes of a typical 2D image.
