“Walking down the city’s old cobbled streets was a delight for the senses; everything was replete with character, texture and age. The bright green moss on gray-streaked crumbling buildings; the mosaicked interiors; the sweet charred odor of doner stands; the haunting cries of seagulls overhead; the persistent drizzle beading everything in silver -- every bit of it all -- was simply mesmerizing.”
