The Civil Rights Movement

Jim Crow LawsSegregated Americans on account of their race.

Montgomery, AlabamaMontgomery is

the town in which Martin Luther King lead the Civil Rights Movement to de-segregate the bus’, diners, and other public services.

Buses in Alabama.“All passenger stations in this state operated by any motor transportation company shall have separate waiting rooms or space and separate ticket windows for white and colored races.”

Transport Waiting rooms“The Utilities Commission is empowered and directed to require the establishment of separate waiting rooms at all stations for the white and colored races.”

The Blind“The board of trustees shall. maintain a separate building. on separate ground for the admission, care, instruction, and support of all blind persons of the colored or black race.”

What did Dr. King do?He organised a

boycott of all public services.

He organised a committe to challenge the Jim Crow Laws in the US Courts.

He organised peaceful marches all over America.

His peaceful marches were a success.

His committee were successful, and the Jim Crow Laws were declared “unconstitutional” and they were abolished later.

King hopes for a brighter future for his childrenI have a dream that my four

little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the

color of their skin but by the content of their character.

King hopes that one day racism will one day be brushed from the face of the earth. “I have a dream that one day, down in

Alabama, with its vicious racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of interposition and nullification; one day right there in Alabama, little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as

sisters and brothers.”

Dr. King hopes Jesus’ true teaching will help people to treat others equally.“I have a dream that one day

every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made

low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all

flesh shall see it together.”
