You can add videos, photos, or a combination of both to your project. Click on “Add videos and photos” on the top toolbar or in the storyboard area. A browser window will open for you to search for your media.

Browse to where you have your media stored. Select the pictures/videos you want to use in your project and then click “Open.” You can repeat this process as many times as needed. Helpful Hints:

Hold down the “Ctrl” button and click to select multiple items at once.

To select all items in a folder, highlight one item then press “Ctrl” + “A”.

The media you add will display to the right side of your screen in the storyboard area. All media will be placed in the order you add it. That being said, if you add the media in the order you want it to play then you will save yourself some time. You can easily change the order of your media by clicking and dragging it from one location on the storyboard to another. You can remove an item by right clicking on it and choosing “Remove.”

By default, any photos you put in will be displayed for 5 seconds. You can change the duration of each photo individually, multiple photos, or all of your photos at once. To change the duration of a photo, highlight the photo, select the “Edit” tab and change the time listed in the duration box. If you want to do multiple photos, hold down the “Ctrl” button and select all the photos you want. If you wish to change the duration of all photos in the project, highlight one photo and then press “Ctrl” + “A” or use the “Select All” option in the “Home” tab.

You can add text to your media by using the options found in the “Add” section of the “Home” tab. You have 3 options available to you: Title, Caption, and Credits. With all 3 options you will have the same features. Alter the font and location of the text on the screen. Set the transparency of your text and when it will appear/disappear from your slide. You can also add effects to the text. Here is what each of the 3 options will do for you…

1. Title- This option will add a title slide in front of the media you currently have selected.

2. Caption- Add text to any photo or video you have in your project. 3. Credits- Add credits to the end of the video

Animation can be added to your slides by visiting the “Animation” tab. The 2 options you have are Transitions and Pan and Zoom. Transitions- Choose how your slides will move from one to the other. Select the slide you want to set the transition for. By hovering over a transition option, you can preview what the transition will look like. Use the drop down arrow (highlighted in green above) to access even more options. Click to add the option to your photo. Pan and Zoom- This will add motion to your photos. There are many options to choose from by clicking the drop down arrow. Hovering over the option will allow you to preview here as well. Click to add the option to your photo. Helpful Hint: You can add the same animation to every slide by “selecting all” first.

Add music to your project by selecting the “Add music” option located in the “Home” tab. This will have to be an audio file that already exists on your computer. You can choose to add to the beginning of the project or to the current point you have selected. Browse to the file and select it to insert.

You can change where the audio plays in your project. In the storyboard, click and drag the audio file to wherever you would like it to play. There are other more advanced options available to you in the “Music Tools” options.

A great option available to you is the “AutoMovie” function. This function will automatically add titles, credits, transitions, and pan/zoom options to your project for you. It will also manipulate the duration of your slides to match the length of your song if applicable. Once all options are applied, you are still able to go into each area individually and alter whatever you feel needs it.

Save project as- This is the option you choose to save as an editable file. Saving it as a project enables you to change what you have done, make corrections, and/or add more to the project. Keep in mind that when working with a project, have all your media files located in one place and do not move them. The program will revisit that location to use them.

Save movie- This is the option you will choose when you are done with all your editing. You are now ready to make a finished product. There are quite a few formats for you to choose from. The two you will probably use the most is to high definition or standard definition. Choosing high definition will take longer to render and give you a much larger file. It also gives you a much higher quality video to play back.
