    SPEAK OUT

The above articles are editorial opinions and do not necessarily

represent the views of the Mount Morris Shopper, its management

and staff, or the Mount Morris Shopper advertisers.

Dear Speak Out, Reminder to all Americans to y their Flag this Monday,November 11th...Veterans Day. And most importantly pleaseremember to not only y our majestic Flag but to take the timeout of the day to honor our Veterans. It is what this holiday isall about. And while doing so please reect on these thoughts:our heroes, while wearing the uniform of their Branch of Ser -

vice, all marched under the same ag; none of them have everforgotten the true meaning of the words of our National Anthemsinging out loud and clear, even if they are the only person inthe crowd doing so; they will, for as long as they draw breath, honor our ag when it passes by - standing tall, in silence, hatoff, hand on heart - often with a tear slipping down their cheek, remembering their comrades who gave their all. These Veter-ans have lived what our youth can only read about in the his -tory books. And each Veteran says a silent prayer that theseyoung people never will know the horrors of war. Do we owe them our respect? Do we owe them our thanks? If you are worshipping the God of your choice; moving freelyfrom state to state; country to country; speaking what is onyour mind..no matter what the subject then you already knowthe answers! Now all you have to do is honor them, not just on VeteransDay, but every day. Say thank you for your freedoms by: dailyying our ag; singing as loud as they do the next time youhear the Star Spangled Banner played; standing tall and si-lent beside them whenever our ag passes by; teaching yourchildren what a true hero is; and by never, ever forgetting thatfreedom is not free. May God forever bless our Veterans, ourtrue heroes. And God Bless America.

Because diabetes reduces the bodys resistance to infection, the gums are among the tissues likely to be affected. Periodontal

disease is an infection of the gum and bone that hold your teeth in place.

COMMON ORAL HEALTH PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH DIABETES

Periodontal disease is often linked to the control of diabetes. For example patients with inadequate blood sugar control appear

to develop periodontal disease more often and more severely, and they lose more teeth than people whose diabetes is under

    control.

Regular dental checkups and periodontal screenings are important for evaluating overall dental health and for treating dental

    problems in their initial stages.

    Let your dentist know:

if you have been diagnosed with diabetes if the disease is under control

if there has been any other changes in your medical history the names of all prescription & over-the-counter drugs

MOUNT MORRIS SHOPPERHSUNDAY, NOVEMBER 10, 2013

An excerpt from Ann Landers Column...

    Author Unknown!

Trampled, Burned or Shot, Old Glory

I am your Flag. I have been kicked, trampled, burned, and shot full of holes. I have fought battles,

but I prefer the untroubled air of a world at peace.

I am your Flag. I represent the freedom of humanity, and

I shall y high, thundering in silence for the whole world to

hear. My gentle rustling in the breeze sounds out the warning

to all who would bury me forever that below stands a population

    dedicated to liberty.

For those who have perished for my right to freedom of

ight, for those who will die, and indeed, for those who will live,

I stand as a symbol of freedom-loving people.

I have been carried into battle in faraway lands, always

for the cause of freedom. I am bloodstained, torn, and many

times wearied and saddened by the thousands who have paid

the supreme sacrice. Do not let it all be for nothing. Tell me

the brave have all died for a worthwhile cause. Be proud of

what I represent, and display me for all to see.

Whether you call me Old Glory, Stars and Stripes, or

Star Spangled Banner, I shall y forever as a symbol of your

freedom, as I did for your ancestors, and as I shall for your

    heirs.

    I am YOUR Flag.
