External Advisory Board!!On March 27, the UnitedHealth Group Center for Nursing Advancement (CFNA)

announced the formation of an External Nurse Advisory Board (ENAB).

!The goal of the ENAB is to inform, create and evolve nursing best practices in order to create strong partnerships across nursing, education and the health care industry; influence nursing policy and changes in the national landscape; and further the nursing profession. UnitedHealth Group is the largest nongovernmental employer of nurses in the United States.

“The Center for Nursing Advancement (CFNA) was founded in 2008 to prepare nurses for expanding roles and solving the most pressing health care problems of today and tomorrow, tackling the challenges of a health care system in transition and shaping the future of the health care industry,” said Jeannine Rivet, executive vice president, UnitedHealth Group and executive sponsor of the CFNA. “The ENAB was created to further this mission, not only for the more than 24,000 UnitedHealth Group nurse employees in the United States and seven other countries, but for nurses everywhere.”

ANA seeking volunteer to represent ANA on CPT Health Care Professionals Advisory Committee!!!

ANA is seeking a volunteer to serve as ANA’s representative to the American Medical Association’s Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) Health Care Professionals Advisory Committee (HCPAC). The CPT HCPAC facilitates the development and review of CPT codes used by all healthcare professionals. CPT is the coding system used to submit claims to all insurance companies and third party payers in the country. Some knowledge of billing and coding is required. !!The CPT Editorial Panel meets three times a year - May (usually in Chicago), and October and February (usually in resort hotels). !Upcoming meeting dates and locations:!

McCartney Renn is a GAC nursing student who has studied healthcare in Peru and Mexico and completed community health research with nursing faculty in Peru. After graduation she hopes to go into emergency medicine with plans to go back to school for her nurse practitioner license. She was elected to the Minnesota Student Nurses Association Board as Secretary/Treasurer for the 2014–2015 year.
