1.General information

our technical leadership, however, it mightbe necessary, without prior warning, to make changes to
the product and to its operation which, under circumstances, do not correspond to the information

1.2 Packaging and storage
Theproductiscarefullypackedtoensuresufficientprotectionduringshipment.Onreceiptthe
packaging andthecontentsshouldbeinspectedforpossibledamage.
Should there be signs of damage the equipment must not be operated !!!
Damaged cables and connectors are also a safety risk and must not be used !!!

Safetyprecautions:
Thesafetyprecautionsrecommendedherecorrespondtobasicregulationsregardingoperationof
electricalsystems.TheycanbeappliedforallapplicationsinconjunctionwithMOBAequipment.
Assembly:
Only original MOBAcables may beused. Plugs and sockets mustnot be removed fromthe cable
astheyareprotectedagainsthumidityandremovingthemwoulddestroytheirprotection.Ensure
thatthesafetyscrewfastenerssitsecurelyonthe connectors. Furtherinformationaboutthe
assemblyof the equipment, and the sensors,canbefoundinthedata sheetsattachedorinthese
operatinginstructions.

Wiring and cabling:
Thewiringandcablingmustbecorrectlycarriedoutinaccordancewiththeseinstructions.Allsupply
cables andterminalsmustbesizedaccordingtothecurrenttaken.Further,allconnectionsmust
bemadeinaccordancewithVDE regulationsorregulationsofthe areainwhichthe equipmentis
used.
Safetyinthe event ofdisturbances:
This equipment has been developed and tested forindustrial environments. Nevertheless,
microprocessortechnologyrequirescarefulinstallation.Wewouldthereforeliketopointoutthe
followingwhich,ifnotheededto,canleadtodisturbancesduringtheoperationlater:
- Payattentiontothecorrectpolarityoftheconnections
- Donotexceed(neithertoohighnortoolow)thespecifiedvoltagesupplyrange
- Protecttheequipmentwithasuitablesupplyfuse
- Use cables ofadequatecurrentandvoltageratings
- Usetheshortestpossiblecablepaths.(Avoidloops)
- Layoutload,controlandsignalcablesinseparatechannelswherepossible
- Suppresscontactorandrelaycoils- Prerequisiteforadisturbingsuremodeisagoodelectricalconnectionbetweenthe
machinechassisandhousingchassisoftheunits.
- Connect screenedleads toearthatoneendonly (equipment end)
- Donotsupplyotherequipmentdirectlyfromthesupplyterminals
- Donotuse unusedterminalsasconnections for other equipment
Maximum voltages:
Donotexceedthemaximumvoltages.Themaximumvoltagebetweenany two circuits isolatedfrom
oneanother,orbetweenanyisolatedcircuitandearth is,unlessotherwisestated,limitedtoits
highestinputvoltageorthesupplyvoltage.Theconnectingterminalsorconnectorsmustbefitted
withasuitablefuse.
Fuses:
Theequipmentisfittedwithelectronicfuses whichprotectitagainstwrongpolarity,voltage
transientsandovervoltagesofshortduration.Thevoltagesspecifiedinthetechnicaldatamaynot
be exceeded.

Configuration:
Theequipmentcanbeconfiguredbytheuser.Itistheresponsibility ofthe usertoreconfigure
accordingtotheoperatingconditionsofthesystem.
Alarm supervision
Incomplexsystems, inwhichafaultcouldendangeroperatingpersonnelordamagetothesystem,
itisadvisable,touseanindependentalarmunit.Anindependentalarmunitprovidesprotectionand
shut-downofthe systemin theeventofanalarm. In many cases the useofanalarmfromwithin
thecontrolleritselfdoesnot, becauseofitsdependenceonthesystem,offeradequateprotection.
Explosive areas
The equipmentisnotdesignedforuseinexplosiveareas.
Fault clearance
Before startingtoclearfaultsmakesurethat allvoltageshavebeendisconnected. Defective
equipment shouldbe testedinanareawhichhasbeenespeciallybuiltforthispurpose.Any attempt
toremovefaultsfromequipmentthatisstill installedcanbedangeroustopersonnelandtothe
systemitself.Beforeremovingorreplacingsensorsmakesurethatthe voltagesupplyhasbeendisconnected.
Ask for help
Ask your MOBA supplier if you have questions concerning the operation and assembly ofthe
equipment.
Failure to observe the above safety measures can cause breakdown of the equipment or of
the system. Damages caused by such negligence are not covered by the manufacturer's
guarantee.

withthetheMOBA-maticproceedasdescribedintheseinstructions.IfyourMOBA-maticisnot

1.4Generaldescription
TheMOBA-maticisacontrolsystemformachinesintheroadconstructionindustry.
TheDigitalControlleris basedonamodernmicroprocessor techniqueandhas a digitalinterface.
Thisallowsthepossibilityofconnectingvarioussensorstothecontroller.Onstart-upthecontroller
automaticallyidentifiesthesensorwhichisconnectedtoit.Ifthesensorischangeditmustbe
acknowledgedbypressinganykeyafterstart-up.

Thecontrollershouldbemountedinapositionwhereitisprotectedfromwateranddirt.Amounting
positionshouldbechosensothatthepushbuttonsandthedisplaycanbereachedandreadeasily.
Thecontrollershouldbemountedverticallywiththeconnectionsatthebottom.
Pay attention when mounting the controller. The connections at the bottom should remain
accessible sothat theconnectorcanberemovedwithouttheneedforremoving thecontroller.
Thecontrollercanbesuppliedwithaholder.Theholdershouldbe fastenedsothatthecontroller,ontheback ofwhichisthefasteningknob,canbeinsertedintothemountingbracketfromabove.

screws.
The working range
The working rangefor groundandstringline
sensing is between 30 cm und 40 cm. In this

Two sensors are available to sense the reference. The sensor tube is used when sensing a
stringline.Theskisensorisusedwhensensingasurface.
Fitting the sensor tube to the sensor arm
1. Loosen thenutatthe end of the sensor tube.
2. Slidethethesensortubeintothefasteningring
3. Securethesensortubewiththenut.

1. Loosenthesecuritypinfromtheski sensorbolt.Removethe bolt.
2. Insertthesensorarmwiththefasteningringintotheskifastening.

3.5 Laser Receiver LS 250
The LaserReceiver LS250 ispreferredforlargeareas,e.g.sportsfields,airports. Tomountthe
LaserReceiveratelescope mastshouldbe availableonthemachine.The bestplace tomount the
mastisattheoutsideedgeofthescreed atthehightofthematerialauger.Thefasteningtubeshould
have a diameter of45mm. Makesure thatthe LaserReceiveris mounted high enough sothatno
obstaclescancomebetweenthelasertransmitterandtheLaserReceiver.Also,reflectionsofthe
transmitterduetosmoothsurfacesnearthereceivershouldbeavoided.
TheLS250isalinear LaserReceiver.Theworkingpointcanbetakenoveror changed easilywith
asimplepushbuttonaction.NeverthelesstheLS250shouldbemountedinthecenter.Sothereisthepossibilitytochangetheworkingpointovertheholerange.

Withtheswitchunititispossibletoconnect twosensorstooneDigitalController. Theconnections
preferred are those for a grade sensor and for a slope sensor.If the MOBAmatic is used in
conjunctionwiththeswitchunitandanadditionalinterconnectingcable(controller/sensor),itisnot
necessarytochangeover theconnectionswhenselectinganothersensor.Thechangeoverismade
bytheSLOPE/GRADEswitch. Theswitchunitshouldbemountedinapositionwhereitisprotected
fromwater and dirt. Two M6holes onthe backare providedfor mounting.
Thedimensionscanbeseeninthefollowingdrawing.Careshouldbetakentomounttheswitchunit
neartheDigitalControllerandtoensurethattheswitchiseasilyaccessible.Themountingposition

ADigitalControllerisrequiredforeveryhydrauliccylindertobecontrolled.
Thecablewiththe10polecablesocket,thatispermanentlyintegratedintothecontroller,mustbe
conectedtothe10poleequimentplugonthe machine.

General information
1. General information
All parameters have been factory preset to default values at the house of
MOBA. With these defaults a sufficient operation of the paver is ensured.
Nevertheless it is recommended to optimize each system by adjusting its
parameters depending on the specific conditions of the machine.
The parameter settings can be done in manual mode as well as in automatic
mode. So the user has got the possibility to optimize his system while
working.
If any key is pressed while the starting message is indicated, the software
version appears on the display for about 4 seconds.
In this manual we will not separately deal with the working menue of the
MOBA-matic. For informations and instructions concerning the working
menue please see the operating instruction.

The call up of the first parameter is done bypressing the A/M key and the ENTER key at the
same time.
With this key combination also the switch over from
one parameter to the next is done.
By pressing the UP key or the DOWN key

switched over.
The operator menue can be left any time by
pressing the A/M key.

switches back to the working menue.
