PhoneRanger partnered with Successive Software to create a mobile application that combines audio narration, photography, and fascinating information and statistics to describe 25 mammals that may be encountered on a game drive in Africa.

Using Successive Software’s easy to use application design and crisp detailing, the app secured thousands of downloads. With no internet connection required, users can read detailed descriptions about each species; listen to entertaining stories told by an expert game ranger; and browse through more than 150 striking, high-quality images.

Abstract

PhoneRanger is a South African mobile application. They specialize in building dynamic and "live" maps and apps that incorporate user-generated content.

Background

Successive Software provided an innovative and easy to use application design in the mobile application developed. Loaded with a welcome Splash Screen the application had a main screen that helped the user to navigate to various menu options. The application was provided with a feature to use offline map service to cater to the requirements of all user needs and scenarios.

With no internet connection required, users can read detailed descriptions about each species; listen to entertaining stories told by an expert game ranger; and browse through more than 150 striking, high-quality images.

Drawing on the best-selling book Signs of the Wild by acclaimed conservationist Clive Walker and audio concept Ranger in a Box by Eco Studios, this app is a fantastic reference for anyone on a self-drive or guided safari in Africa. The key features are:
