3rd Quarter CRT Study Guide – Reading for Grade 2 2007-2008

For the grade two criterion-referenced test (CRT) in reading, teachers will read aloud the instructions to the class. In addition to allowing teachers to control the pacing of the test, this also ensures that student performance on the items is not dependent on their ability to read the instructions for each set of questions. The text that the teacher should read appears in quotation marks on the pages that follow; special instructions on the reading appear in square brackets [].

The Cheating TailorA folktale from Argentina

One day, a poor old man came to a tailor's shop. "Please mend this coat for me," the old man said. He was holding a coat. "Come back for it tomorrow," said the tailor.

As soon as he took the coat, the tailor knew it was the finest coat he had ever seen. He decided to keep it for himself.
