LEEAIn2012,ITIunderwentaseriesofauditsandevaluationstobecomeanAccreditedUser(enduser)TrainingCompanyaccordingtotheLiftingEquipmentEngineersAssociation. Atthistime,ITIisthefirstandonlyprofessionaltrainingcompanyinNorthAmericatobeaccreditedbyLEEA.

Theprocessentailed:

1. AcorporateauditofITIasanorganization.

2. AcompleteauditofallITIcoursecurriculumandITIexaminationprocesses.

3. IndividualpresentationskillauditsofallITIInstructors.

4. FacilityaudittodeterminecomplianceofITITrainingCenters.

TheLiftingEquipmentEngineersAssociation(LEEA)isestablishedastheleadingrepresentativebodyforallthoseinvolvedintheliftingindustryworldwide. TheAssociationhasplayedakeyroleinthisspecializedfieldforoverhalfacentury,fromtrainingandstandardssettingtohealthandsafety,theprovisionoftechnicalandlegaladvice,andthedevelopmentofexaminationandlicensingsystems.

LEEAwasfoundedin1944astheChainTesters’AssociationofGreatBritain. Thenamewaschangedtoits presentonein1988tomoreaccuratelyreflecttheactivitiesoftheirworldwideMembership. OnJanuary1,2000 LEEAbecameacompanylimitedbyguaranteeandisownedandfinancedbyMembers.

IntroductionTheMobileCraneOperatorProgramisdesignedtoincreasecraneoperators’knowledge,skillandproficiencylevelthroughclassroom,interactiveproblem-solvingworkshopsandhands-ontraining.Studentscanachievequalifiedoperatorstatusbysuccessfullycompletingwrittenandhands-onsegments.

Purpose and Scope Thepurposeofthistrainingistoprovideparticipantswiththeknowledgeandskillnecessarytoproperlyoperatemobilecranesandmoveloadsusingslingsandotherrigginghardware.Theprogramcoversmobilecranedailyoperationalinspection,operatingpractices,loadcharts,cranesetup,handsignals,loadweightestimation,rigginggearselectionandloadcontrol.

Program Objectives

1 . Usingreferencematerials,thetraineewillbeabletoidentifyprimarycomponentsofamobilecrane.

2 . Aftercompletingthepracticeexercises,thetraineewillbeabletodescribetheeffectsofcounterweightwhentheboomlengthorboomanglechanges.

3 . Usingthe**MCORCandtheprogrammanual,thetraineewillbeabletoidentifyconditionsthatadverselyaffectsafemobilecraneoperation.

4 . Usingthe**MCORCandapre-operationalchecklist,thetraineewillbeabletodetermineifamanbasketcanbeusedtocarrypersonnel.

5 . Afterreviewingthe**MCORCwithasignalperson,thetraineewillbeabletofollowindustry-standardhandsignalsformobilecranes.

6 . Usingthe**MCORC,thetraineewillbeabletocompleteapre-operationalinspectionofamobilecrane.

7 . Usingthe**MCORCandtheprogrammanual,thetraineewillbeabletocalculateloadweight,selectappropriaterigginggear,andchoosethebesthitchconfigurationthatprovidesthebestloadcontrol.

8 . Usingloadchartsprovidedbytheinstructorandtheprogrammanual,thetraineewillbeabletoaccuratelydeterminecranecapacitiesforloadradius,boomlength,andboomangle.

9 . Thetraineewillbeabletodemonstratehis/herskillasanoperatorusingpropercranesetupproceduresandcorrectoperatingpracticeswhilecompletingaseriesofloadmovingactivities,asdirectedbytheinstructor.
