Loesche technology – always one step ahead
The first spring-loaded air-swept grinding mill in the world,
constructed by the original company Curt v. Grueber Maschinenbau-
Anstalt, Teltow near Berlin, is launched onto the market in 1928
under the name Loesche Mill and has 2 grinding rollers.
Loesche’s vertical grinding mills form the heart of these plants for
dry grinding of the following materials:
• Coal
• Cement raw material
• Clinkers / granulated slag
• Industrial minerals and
• Ores.
Loesche has designed and constructed the world’s largest and
most efficient grinding plants for its customers.
Loesche designs plants specifically for the required process
stages and equips them with the necessary technology.
This includes:
• Processing plants and storage of materials
• Transport and conveying systems
• Loesche vertical mills
• Loesche hot gas generators
• Filtration and separation systems
• Dosing and weighing systems
• Steel and piping system construction
• Structural and civil engineering
• Peripheral infrastructure
• Loesche electrical and automation technology
Loesche has designed a mobile coal grinding plant (CGPmobile),
for the local supply of thermal processes with solid fuels.
The plant, newly developed by Loesche, is designed within
containers, to enable it to be used at any location. The design
parameters are listed in the adjacent table.
The mobile coal grinding plant can process different types of
coal under almost all environmental and physical conditions and
make it available to a downstream thermal process.
Loesche is certi ed according to EN ISO 9001, our grinding plants
meet all national and international safety requirements.

Hot-gas generator LOMA heater Type LF 6
The supply of energy today comes mainly from the following
sources:
• Fossil fuels (oil, gas, coal)
• Nuclear fuels
• Regenerative energy (biomass, solar energy, wind energy, etc.)
• Industrial products containing hydrocarbons / waste products
(petroleum coke, blast furnace gas, synthesising gas, etc).
The following graph displays the world energy reserves of the major
primary energy sources as “history-future” scenario for the periods
from 1930 until 2090 as viewed from today’s perspective.
It clearly shows that only the fossil fuel coal will continue to be
available in appreciable quantities for the global economy.
Based on these forecasts, Loesche continues to develop grinding
plants for this type of fuel. This is especially done to substitute the
rare energy sources such as oil and gas with coal as an energy
source for thermal processes. Parallel to this, Loesche has
developed a hot gas generator with burner for the combustion
of solid fuels based on the Loesche steel combustion chamber
(LOMA heater), putting it in the position of supplying both plant
technology and expertise starting from grinding to the availability of
process heat.
Loesche builds coal grinding plants for a throughput of 2 t/h to 300
t/h and is the market leader in the sector of self-inert, central coal
grinding plants for hard coal and the grinding of brown coal in verti-
cal mills.
Decades of experience is also the basis for manufacturing container-
type coal grinding plants with the necessary safety technology.

Centralised supplyCentralised coal grinding plants are generally integrated into
the systems requiring the coal dust for their process. Centralised
grinding plants are built only in rare cases to supply different
customers with coal dust in a certain area.
Brown coal grinding plants by Loesche are the exeption here.
There are now 3 such plant complexes in Germany which
transport the coal dust in special vehicles for distances of up
to 1000 kilometres.
The large-scale substitution of rare energy sources with coal
dust is possible with centralised coal grinding plants in structural
developed regions.
Decentralised supplyThe mobile coal grinding plant developed by Loesche closes
the coal dust supply gap. Long transport distances with special
vehicles are eliminated, since it is possible to install such plants at
any location around the globe.
The more economical use of coal in comparison with gas and oil
lowers operating costs considerably and ensures plant operators
maximum profit with increased flexibility.
