    What is Mobisys MSB?

It is possible to connect any type of device to the MSB: From Internet Explorer or Pocket Explorer up to the powerful MSB Client.

Even the connection of stationary scanning systems or RFID-Systems can be realized via the MSB to work scanning data from production or logistics.

The direct connection of Pick-by-Voice Systems completes the variability of the MSB.

  • Mobisys Solution Builder Page 15

    What is the Mobisys MSB?

MSB generates ABAP function modules through the screen-information entered in MSB Screen Designer. The related function modules can be changed and you can include your own individual ABAP coding to realize any logic. Mobile screens can be connected to any SAP Module!

    Connection MSB to SAP:

As of Release 4.70 or higher (SAP Enterprise) MSB can be installed on the same server than SAP Enterprise itself. Installation takes place in a mobisys own namespace (/mobisys/).

    Variant 1

  • Mobisys Solution Builder Page 24

With SAP releases < 4.70 MSB has to be installed on a separate WAS (release 6.1 oder higher). MSB calls RFC function modules on SAP R/3 server via typical R/3 to R/3 connection.

    Variant 2

    Connection MSB to SAP:

    RFC/BAPIR/3 Connection

  • Mobisys Solution Builder Page 25

Connection of more than 100 mobile devices: In that case it is recommended to separate R/3 and WAS, MSB is supposed to run on one or more separate WAS.

    Connection MSB to SAP:

    Variant 3

    RFC/BAPIR/3 Connection

  • Mobisys Solution Builder Page 26

In projects with many mobile devices multiple WAS Server can be used for communication between devices and SAP. One of these servers is confi-gured as central instance and has an own database. The SAP Web-Dis-patcher assures load balancing for the Web Application Servers.

    MSB users and user profiles:

An integrated user administration tool allows a flexible configuration of the mobile user profiles and the access to the mobile system..

With a single mouse-click, it is possible to link different roles to the user profile .

On the mobile terminal only menu entries and masks of the active roles are appearing.

  • Mobisys Solution Builder Page 37

    MSB users and user profiles:

You can create any number of MSB user rolls which can then be connected to menu items and users.

And this totally independent from the SAP user rolls and user profiles.

  • Mobisys Solution Builder Page 38

    MSB Configuration:

In the MSB Configuration Transaction you can create and maintain users, and the devices, define workareas for the mobile users and you can also set the basic settings for the MSB installation.

    MSB Screen Samples

  • Mobisys Solution Builder Page 40

    Examples with MSB Client:

On the left you see a menu. You can choose an option by touching the buttons or by entering the short code. For Example press 1 and 0 for activating the goods receipt transaction.

Instead of pushing a button you can use also keyboard shortcodes (like pressing 3 and 0 for Picking button) or functions keys. Any function key can be related to any button on the screen.

    Please Note:

The Windows operating system is completely hidden. The user has no access to the Windows system! All special function keys from the operating system are deactivated!

  • Mobisys Solution Builder Page 41

    Examples with MSB Client:

With the MSB it is possible to use scan-fields (only when the cursor is positioned in a scan field the barcode scanner ist active!), radio buttons, selection lists and push buttons.

You can define any size for buttons fonts or labels...

...and you can place it on any position of the screen! Pixel by pixel!

    I

  • Mobisys Solution Builder Page 42

    Examples with MSB Client:

You can use different background colors and any size of letters for showing the most important information.

Of course the cursor navigates to the next entry field, when you press the [Enter] key!

Pressing the [Enter] key in the last entry field of a screen has the same function as pressing the Save button. So in the most cases it is not necessary to place buttons on the screen!

  • Mobisys Solution Builder Page 43

    Examples with MSB Client:

You can use also images and graphics instead of text based push buttons.

With the graphics buttons it is very easy to create multilingual projects.

  • Mobisys Solution Builder Page 44

    Examples with MSB Client:

Status messages are displayed in the bottom of the screen, and the worker can continue the scanning process without pressing any key or confirming the message.

With this message a status beep is sent and informs the worker also in an acoustic way.

The status line can be placed at any position of the screen and can be of any font size and color.

  • Mobisys Solution Builder Page 45

    Examples with MSB Client:

Every time an error message appears, an acoustic BadBeep is being sent and the scanner is switched off, so that the worker can continue scanning and has to look on the display and has to read the information.

  • Mobisys Solution Builder Page 46

    Examples with MSB Client:

Every time a question appears, an acoustic WarnBeep is being sent and the scanner is switched off, so that the worker has to look on the display and read the information.

    Please Note:

Every button can be linked to a short code or function key! So it is also possible to use the keyboard instead of the touch screen!

  • Mobisys Solution Builder Page 47

    MSB Standard Transactions

For rapid and cost effective realization of mobile data collection projects, Mobisys has developed so called Standard Transactions.

Mobisys can deliver these read-to-use transactions for a wide range of processes in logistics, production or service.

    Monitoring RFID-Data in MSB

With the MSB RF-ID Monitor it is possible to control all RF-ID activities.

You can check all the bookings which have been done via RF-ID reader transactions.

The MSB can collect and cumulate RFID Data, so that not each tag which has been read, will cause a booking.

Each booking is stored with timestamp and with information from which reader it has been generated in the monitor.

  • Mobisys Solution Builder Page 63

    Configuration RFID Readers

With the MSB RFID Reader Configuration it is possible to configure the connection between the readers and the SAP System. You can connect any number of readers to a SAP system which runs the MSB.

An intelligent device-management included in the MSB can handle the devices and connect them with a high performance data exchange rate.

  • Mobisys Solution Builder Page 64

    Intelligent Device Management

The MSB device management guarantees, that only RFID readers which are known in the Device Management of the MSB can have access to the Mobisys MSB.

Unknown or unactive reader devices cannot connect to the SAP System. The access is denied by the MSB Communication Level.

  • Mobisys Solution Builder Page 68

    MSB and Pick by Voice

The creation of the voice dialog is done in a MSB Transaction! In this transaction the voice dialog is created through some mouse clicks. The voice output and the voice input is defined here.

After having defined the dialog structure, the complete process logic is created in ABAP function modules. By double clicking on these icons the ABAP workbench is launched and the function module can be edited by the developer.

  • Mobisys Solution Builder Page 69

    MSB and Pick by Voice

Voice dialogs are created through some mouse clicks The dialogs also can also be created in multiple languages! The standard SAP

tools can be used for translation.

Voice messages can be fix or program controlled. The developer has the choice!

It can be defined if an optional scanner can be used in the actual input field, or if global

commandos like louder, slower, etc. are active in this input field.

  • Mobisys Solution Builder Page 70
