after use.• If you plan on placing oven hot items onto your placemat, consider 1 or 2 layers of an

insulated batting such as Insul~Bright by The Warm Company.

Assemble Placemat Top

1. Lay out your cut scrappy fabric strips until you come up with your desired layout, as shown in Diagram 1.

2. Assemble your strips. Sew a 2.5” x 2.5” background square to the short ends of each 2.5” x 8.5” strip. Sew a 2” x 2.5” background square to the short ends of each 2” x 9.5” strip.

3. Sew your strips together as you laid out in Step 1.

Create Backing and BindingCreate your placemat backing, baste, quilt using your preferred method.

Cut your binding fabric into 2 strips, 2” x 42” (WOF - width of fabric). Create your binding and bind using your preferred method.
