FEATURES• Operates on batteries with solar

power recharge.

• No obstruction in flow path, no moving parts.

• Extremely low headloss.

• Broad operating range.

• Simple installation.

• Tamper-proof design.

• Each Irriflow flowmeter is supplied with a 3 point calibration certificate, traceable to national standards.

• Pit Mount – Designed to be attached to a discharge headwall with the flowmeter ID similar to the discharge pipe, therefore producing no appreciable head loss.

• No Mounting Tabs – Designed for encasement into piping systems.

GENERAL APPLICATIONSThe Irriflow uses the well proven electromagnetic method of measurement, which applies Faraday’s Law as the principle of operation. This technique features a straight through section of pipe with no obstruction to restrict flow, and no moving parts to wear or break.

SYSTEM CONFIGURATIONThe Emflux 2030 consists of two main components, the Detector (primary element) and the Transmitter (secondary).

The Detector installs into a pipe and provides a linear, low level signal proportional to flow.

The Transmitter mounts remotely from the detector. It accepts the low level signal from the detector and converts it into industry standard outputs, as well as displaying flowrate and total flow.

To conserve power, the system periodically samples the flowrate. The reading and outputs are held until the next sample which is updated every 1 to 60 minutes (programmable). The reading may be manually updated by simply pressing a display button. This would typically occur when setting or adjusting flowrate.

SYSTEM ACCURACY• Better than ±2.5% over the flow

range 0.5 ML/day – 40 ML/day.

INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTSThe IR2030 series requires a minimum of five diameters, of straight pipe or 1 length between pits, upstream of the meter and a minimum 600 mm (23.6 in) of clear area at the downstream end. The meters must remain full for proper operation.

IRRIGATION FLOWMETERDesigned to meet the specific requirements of open channel irrigation schemes, the ‘Irriflow’ is a high performance flowmeter for farm offtakes.

• Environmental flow measurements

• Water and wastewater.

SYSTEM CONFIGURATIONThe transmitter comes completely packaged including a weather shield to protect the electronics enclosure from direct sunlight, rain and hail. The Solar panel is installed as an integral part of the weather shield.

The inner fully sealed box houses the battery and electronics. Mounting brackets are included to enable connection to a 50 mm (2 in) mounting pipe. Cabling from the detector head enters the enclosure via the mounting pipe.

SYSTEM SET-UP AND OPERATIONThe transmitter is supplied pre-commissioned to suit your application requirements. Any required setup changes can be performed using the integral keypad. To conserve power the system periodically samples the flowrate.. The reading and outputs are held between samples which occur at configured intervals of 15 seconds to 60 minutes. Readings may also be manually updated simply by pressing a display button.

OPTIONS

Peak/Off-Peak Totalisers: Provides flow consumption information during electricity peak and off-peak periods.

Latch Totalisers: Locks in the current flow total either on a monthly or yearly basis. This allows meter readers either one month or a year to read the flow total at a pre-determined time before it is overwritten.

Remote Visual Indicator: A high Intensity LED is installed in the door of the enclosure and flashes at a rate proportional to flowrate. The actual rate is configured by the user to suit the application. For example in the case of a Dethridge Wheel replacement, the flash rate can be set to simulate the turning blades of the wheel. This enables the flowrate to be viewed remotely simulating the Dethridge wheel. The LED can be viewed up to distances of 30 metres (98.5 feet). The viewing angle is limited to eight degrees, to prevent the flashing becoming a potential problem to local residences.

SOLAR-POWERED TRANSMITTERSolar-powered transmitter for use with the Emflux range of Electromagnetic Flow Detector Heads. Designed to meet the requirements of remote and non-powered site applications.

Page 12: MODEL 2020 ELECTROMAGNETIC FLOWMETER...Connections AS2129 D/E, ANSI 150 Spigot and gilbault connections Others available on request Pressure Limitations 50 mm (2 in) = 1500 kPa at

03AQUAMONIX

Radio Communication (RTU): The transmitter can also be a RTU (Remote Telemetry Unit). As an option the transmitters electronic circuit can include a radio modem. This feature will allow a radio transmitter/receiver to be plugged directly into the system. A space in the rear of the enclosure has been allowed to fit the radio, which is powered from the existing solar panel and battery The radio communicates using a Modbus RTU protocol enabling it to communicate with many existing telemetry systems. Information that can be collected includes:

• Flow Rate

• Flow Total

• Solar Panel Volts

• Battery Volts

• Resets

• Diagnostic Messages

With the appropriate equipment available from third party wireless solution providers, it is possible to provide for internet access to flow information.

4–20 mA Output: This provides a signal proportional to flowrate. This option requires a remote 12 V DC to 24 V DC (depending on loop load) power source. The output is always zero based, ie. 4 mA = 0 L/sec, with the span being programmable up to a maximum velocity of 5 metres (16.4 feet) per second.

metres (±0.003 feet) per second,

whichever is greater, from 0.5 to

10 metres (1.65 to 33 feet) per second.

Battery operation: The M300 can function from a 24 V DC battery power supply. The M300 will take a reading from the flowtube, turn off the power supply to the tube, and hold this reading, indicating and totalising at this rate for the ‘switch off’. This switch off period is adjustable to suit the particular dynamics of the flow application, and maximise battery life. Two 60 AH 12 V batteries will power the flowmeter for a period of 2 weeks, based on a 10 min update time. Using a solar panel the system can run continuously without mains power.

SET-UP AND OPERATIONThe operation and set-up of the system are broken into two main areas:

Commissioning ModeOnly accessible through a 3 digit security code to avoid unauthorised access. This mode is used to set the Flow System to your application requirements, including Flow Range, Flow Units, Response Time, Simulations, Outputs etc. Settings may

be made either direct via the three button keypad or remotely using the Comms Port and a computer. When information is provided, the M300 is supplied configured to customer requirements.

Operations MenuDisplays readings in normal run mode. The default display shows the Flowrate and Totaliser with an indication of Forward / Reverse Flow. The operator may also call up other displays, using the up/down arrow key, such as

• Reverse Total

• Output Signals

• Diagnostics and Alarms

• Nett Totaliser

• Rate/Velocity

• Run Time Hours

The display automatically reverts back to default display after two (2) minutes.

DiagnosticsThe M300 incorporates advanced diagnostics which monitor the integrity of the system, including:

• Detector Head Current

• Detector Head Cabling

• Internal Reference Voltages

• A to D Conversion

Configuration options• Detector Head Size

• Low-flow Cut-off

• Detector Head Constant

• Failsafe Modes

• Flow range

• Relay functions

• Response Time

• Outputs

The LCD display and integral keypad allows the user complete control over all configurable functions. Self calibrating electronics and self diagnostics ensure the system maintains integrity at all times. Simple in-field verification available.

Operator interfaceThe M300 includes an integral 2 line alphanumeric display and keypad as standard. No plug in programmer is required. Password protection is included to prevent unauthorized tampering. All parameters are sequenced in a logical, easy to follow order. Configuration prompts on the display further simplifies set-up.

FLOWMETER VERIFICATION SERVICE

In-situ flowmeter verification service using proprietary equipment and other specialised electronic measuring equipment are used for verifying installed and operational flow meters. Programmed full verification of installed flow meters offers a considerably lower cost option than full removal and wet calibration (see in-field verification fact sheet).

BREAKDOWN SERVICE

An Aquamonix service technician is available to attend site for breakdowns. The technician will perform diagnostic tests to isolate the faulty flow meter components. Were possible the technician will repair and verify the meter onsite to minimise downtime. In the advent a buried meter needs to be removed the technician will co-ordinate with other contractors for excavation, isolation, removal and installation of the meter. Were it is required and possible the technician will provide end to end solution.

INSERTION PROBE

Using an insertion point velocity electromagnetic flowmeter the Greenspan technician can perform velocity profile measurements and calculate the exact flow rate of the pipe.

The point velocity meter is inserted into a pipe via a tapping point. This service can form a part of the programmed maintenance schedule.
