The first thing you need to understand isthat there are two different devices youneed to control your house; Controllersand Modules. Any light or appliance thatyou want to control is plugged into aModule and that Module is then pluggedinto a standard AC outlet.

Modules receive commands fromControllers. Examples include the LampModule (sold separately). The TransceiverModule (also soldseparately) is anotherexample (although it alsodoubles as a Controller asdescribed later).

Controllers are pluggedinto standard wall outletsand send commands toModules over your existingelectrical wiring in yourhouse without affectingyour electricity in anyway.

The Transceiver Moduleworks as a Controller whenit is used with a remotecontrol such as the X10Mouse Remote. When theTransceiver Modulereceives a commandfrom a remote control itsends digital signalsover your existing housewiring to a Module whichreceives the signals andexecutes the command. The Remote uses radiofrequency (RF) signalsto send commands tothe Transceiver Module.RF signals can go rightthrough walls, so youcan use the MouseRemote to controllights or appliances fromanywhere in your home.
