What is the PowerKEY CableCARD Module?The PowerKEY® CableCARD™ Module provides you with greater choice in your cable TV entertainment and communications. Note: For installation in compatible TVs and home terminals. Not intended for use in a personal computer or a laptop, unless the device is specifi cally designated for such use.

Important: Do not remove the PowerKEY CableCARD Module after you install it. Removing the module may cause a temporary loss of your cable services.

Before You BeginBefore you install the PowerKEY CableCARD Module, record the two lines of alphanumeric characters that appear on the bottom left corner of the module, below the bar codes as shown in the example diagram. You may need to give this information to your cable service provider after you install the module.

Installing the PowerKEY CableCARD ModulePerform the following steps to install the PowerKEY CableCARD Module.

1. Refer to the TV or home terminal documentation to locate the appropriate slot in which to insert the module.

Note: This diagram shows a Scientifi c-Atlanta Explorer®

Digital Home Communications Terminal (DHCT). If you are installing the PowerKEY CableCARD Module in a diff erent device, refer to the instructions that came with that device for specifi c information.

2. Follow the instructions that came with the TV or home terminal to insert the module into the slot until it is fi rmly seated.

CAUTION: Do not try to force the module into the slot. Doing so could damage the module, the home terminal, or the TV.

3. After you insert the module, the module and host device IDs appear automatically on your TV screen, along with instructions and a telephone number to call.

Note: If you do not see this information on the TV screen, the module may not be inserted properly. Try removing the module, turning it over and re-inserting it. If the problem persists, contact your cable service provider.

4. Record these IDs and the telephone number in the spaces below, and call your cable service provider as instructed.

Note: You may also need to give your cable service provider the alphanumeric information you recorded earlier in the Before You Begin section.

5. Refer to the documentation that came with your TV or home terminal for instructions on operating the TV or home terminal with the module.

If You Have Problems• If you installed the PowerKEY CableCARD Module in a home terminal and

received a code on its front panel display, refer to the documentation that came with the home terminal for instructions.

• If you installed the PowerKEY CableCARD Module in a TV and received an error message on the TV screen, refer to the documentation that came with the TV for instructions.

• Contact your cable service provider if you continue to have problems.
