My Photo-shoot plan for my
model
When I was thinking about the images and styles I wanted to use for my
magazine. I constantly was researching the internet trying to fine new ideas
that I thought I could work with the materials and model I had. I came
across one of Rihanna’s album covers named ‘Talk That Talk’ I really like
her main image for this album so I went further and looked at the photo-
shoot she created for it. The images were taken by Ellen von Unwerth, she
fascinates me by the way she puts her images together, and keeping her own
style and technique showing in them. I loved some of the images so I
centred my photo-shoot and model around them. As you will see from the
examples on the next two slides, then looking at the images I took they hold
some similar qualities. The reason I liked these images of Rihanna so much
is because they are different and I thought that sort of style would be
perfect for a music magazine, especially my set target audience as well.
This image of Rihanna I really
likes as I thought the lighting of
the background really stood out
enhancing the model herself, it
almost made her blend into the
background which I thought had
an interesting effect. The use of
colours in the background I
thought really worked with the
model, it gave the whole image a
rough edge, as the background
looks like a piece of graffiti you
would find down a street. This was
the exact approach I wanted for
my magazine images, I wanted to
give it a rough edge and make it
look different. That’s why I
focused my front cover image
around this picture because I
thought it would really stand out to
my audience.
This image of Rihanna I really likes as I
thought it was simple but had a great
effect. The background is plain but the
lighting of it really makes it stand out,
which compliments the model, as she
overpowers it. I noticed the photographer
made Rihanna’s face lighting and colouring
the same as the background, so they clash
but at the same time really work well
together. I focused my double pages spread
image of my model, around this image of
Rihanna, as I wanted a very basic look for
my DPS, but at the same time have a bold
and different effect, keeping with the
house-style of my front cover image.
