Correct answers

Module A Question 1 C You are not allowed to give alcohol as a treatment for shock. Only a medial doctor is allowed to do so for medical reasons. Question 2 C It must be switched on from sunset to sunrise, according to law. It must be switched on at any time, even during the day, if you cannot see clearly for a distance of 150m. The third option states that you cannot see clearly for 150m and therefore it must also be switched on. Question 3 A You must switch on the indicator (signal) in time to warn other road users of your intention. You must not take a wide turn to the right in order to turn left. You do not necessarily have to stop. (It may be a green robot for instance?) Question 4 C All three statements are wrong, but they always want the MOST correct answer. In this case the MOST wrong answer. You are never allowed to stop with your vehicle facing oncoming traffic. This is the most dangerous action that you can do from the three statements that they give you. Question 5 C By law, it is not compulsory to wear shoes while driving. This law has changed since 1994. You do not have to wear shoes while driving. You must have at least one hand on the steering wheel. The other hand must be used to change the gears. Remember they play arou nd with words all the time. You do not have to have two hands on the steering wheel “at all times”. Of course, you must have an unobstructed view of the road and the traffic ahead. Question 6 B What they actually mean with this question is that the robot is flashing red PERMANENTLY. It is probably not working normally. A flashing red light has the same meaning as a stop sign. Stop and move off when it is safe to do so. Question 7 B Check the rules of the road for speed limits. The speed limit outside of towns is 100 km/h. Freeways is 120 km/h. The legal speed that you must drive is shown by a sign next to the road. Question 8 A You are not allowed to spin the wheels of your car when moving off. You may not start the engine of your vehicle and then leave it unattended. By law, your vehicle must be fitted with a cap on the fuel tank. Question 9 B 12 months. Remember they are referring to the licence of the vehicle, not the driver’s licence. This licence disk must be attached to the windscreen and needs to c orrespond with the number plates. Question 10 B A tow-bar is a solid steel rod used to prevent the vehicles from touching each other when being towed.

Page 15: Modue A The rules of the road - My Driving Schoolmydrivingschool.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Dummy-Test-1... · Modue A The rules of the road Module A - Page 1 1. When you are

Module A - Answers - Page 2

Question 11 A You may only pass another vehicle on the left, provided that there is enough space to d o so. You may not drive on the shoulder of the road to do so. The shoulder is not the section left of the yellow line. It is the DIRT PART next to the tarred area. Question 12 C Right of way simply means the right to drive first. Traffic within a circle may drive first. If you want to turn right at an intersection you will have to wait for vehicles from the front to pass before you may turn. The vehicle that has stopped first at a stop sign may drive first. Question 13 A Which statement is illegal? A passenger may not travel on the bumper or the roof. If a passenger fiddles with the radio it does not affect the driver. You are allowed to carry passengers if you only have a learners licence. Remember, this law has changed since 1994. A learner driver may drive on a freeway and carry passengers as long as there is a person with a valid driver’s licence inside the vehicle. This person may be sitting anywhere in the vehicle and does not have to be in the front passenger seat. Question 14 A You may not stop 5m from a bridge, because you may only stop 6m and further from it. Refer to the rules of the road for distances. Question 15 B Driving lights (“brights”) 150m. Dim lights 45m. Question 16 A Keep left. Other road users are definitely not friendly and considerate! Question 17 B The rules of the road are different for a circle and a MINI circle. A mini circle has a yellow dot in the middle. In a large circle you will yield to the right. Look at road sign Z4. It shows a mini circle. The rule at a mini circle is that the first vehicle over the line may go. It does not matter from which side it comes., You will not necessarily stop at a mini circle because you will find four yield signs at a mini circle. Question 18 C They actually mean when may you not overtake on the right. There is smoke over the road for 100m, and that goes by in a second when you travel at 120km/h. In all three cases you may not overtake on the right. Question 19 C Urban road means inside of a town 60km/h. Peri urban means outside of a town 100km/h. There does not exist a speed limit of 80km/h unless it is indicated by a road sign. Question 20 A 1mm over at least three quarters of the tyre. Question 21 A You must always give way to emergency vehicles sounding a siren. Question 22 A Refer to the rules of the road for distances. You may stop 6m from a railway crossing. You may stop only 9m from a pedestrian crossing

Page 16: Modue A The rules of the road - My Driving Schoolmydrivingschool.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Dummy-Test-1... · Modue A The rules of the road Module A - Page 1 1. When you are

Module A - Answers - Page 3

Question 23 B In a confusing way they ask when may you overtake on the right on a normal two way road. The traffic or police officer is always correct and you must obey his commands. Remember you may only choose from the statement that they give you. Question 24 C They ask when must you NOT have the park lights on. In a ny demarcated parking area ( a parking space painted on the road surface) you do not have to switch it on. You must only switch your park lights on 12m and further from a lighted streetlamp. When you are stopping next to the roadway your are stopping and not parking. There is a difference. In all three cases you do not have to switch the park lights on. Question 25 C Many people misunderstand this question. If your licence was suspended, you may not get a learners licence again. If a court declared you unfit, you may not get a learners licence again. If you already have a driver’s licence FOR THE SAME CLASS OF VEHICLE you may not get a learners licence again. ( eg. If you have a driver’s licence for a car you may not get one again, but you may get one for a motorbike or a truck, which is a different class.) Question 26 A Car A must stop before the stop line, even if there are no other vehicles at the intersection.
