DescriptionThe MODUtherm “Wall of Fans” range of modular air handling units feature multiple high efficiency, EC plug fans that are mounted adjacent to each other on an internal wall and operate in parallel. The design provides inherent fan redundancy and the benefits of both minimum energy consumption and minimum overall unit dimensions.

The AirDesign MODUtherm range includes generous clearances for ease of cleaning and maintenance. Unit casings are constructed with a modular, aluminium frame and double skin, 50mm polyurethane panels. Casing construction complies with National Construction Code insulation specification J5.2 (all areas except for alpine areas).

Features• “Wall of Fans” design incorporates multiple energy saving EC plug fans.

• Will continue to operate even if there is a fault with one fan due to in-built redundancy.

• Fans can be removed for maintenance or replacement through the fan chamber’s hinged access door.

• 50mm double skin polyurethane panel construction complies with National Construction

• Code insulation specification J5.2 (all areas except alpine areas).

• Casing has a high resistance to cold tracking and condensation. Modular casing construction achieves TB2 thermal bridging rating as defined in BS EN1886:2007.

• “CLIP n LOCK” panels are removable allowing easy access for maintenance.

• “CLIP n LOCK” casing construction provides superior air tightness.

• Panels have zero ozone depleting potential ( 0 % O.D.P )

• High efficiency EC plug fans with integral speed control, current overload and motor phase protection, reverse polarity and locked rotor protection and soft starting.

• EC Plug fans can be run independently or integrated into most building management systems.

• Fans can be controlled by MODBUS and 0-10V. EC plug fan motors exceed EU’s minimum level of efficiency for electric motors (IE4).

• Fan motors are prewired to a junction box.

• Chilled water cooling coils available with 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 or 10 rows and 315, 394, 433 or 472 fins per metre.

• Hot water heating coils available with 1 or 2 rows and 315, 394, 433 or 472 fins per metre.

• Combined maximum of 10 cooling and heating coil rows per unit.

• Cooling and heating coil separation is available.

• Matching filter plenums are available

Construction - CLIP n LOCKUnits incorporate premium quality modular thermally broken, aluminium frame construction with double skin, 50mm thick, polyurethane filled panels.

Unit casings incorporate CLIP n LOCK removable panels that are sealed air tight by the use of a continuous EPDM closed cell foam underseal and secured using a continuous clip in aluminium locking strip. The aluminium strip is to be secured using a continuous synthetic cord. The panels are removable without the removal of screws or fasteners to allow access for maintenance.

Each unit is provided with generous access to the coil section, fan section and filter plenum. Access to the coil section is by lift off access panel. Access to the fan section and filter plenum is by hinged access door.

The bottom condensate tray is of a non-ponding design and is manufactured from grade 304 stainless steel.

The upper condensate tray bolts onto the coil and is manufactured from high quality aluminium.

Units incorporate multiple, high efficiency EC plug fans. The number of fans varies with airflow and unit model.

Suggested Specification The air handling units shall be of the MODUtherm “Wall of Fans” Series as designed by AirDesign and be of the model numbers as shown on the schedule/drawings.

Units shall incorporate modular thermally broken, aluminium frame construction with double skin, 50mm thick, polyurethane filled panels achieving TB2 thermal bridging rating as defined in BSEN1886:2007.

Panels shall have have zero ozone depleting potential (0 % O.D.P). Cooling and heating capacities and external static pressures shall be as shown on the schedule.

Units shall incorporate multiple EC plug fans with motors exceeding EU’s minimum efficiency level (IE4) and complying with IP54 protection. Fans shall be prewired to an external terminal box. Units shall have adequate clearance for maintenance and cleaning.
