the functions in the

ground floor

In my first design studio I

designed a tourist

information center that

catches the eyes by creating

concave reflecting facades.

The ground floor is where

all the offices and main

functions are. In the first

floor there's a grand space

through which people can

feel comfortable and enjoy

looking at the qurm beach.

In design studio II, we

were asked to design a

single family villa.

At that point in my

studies, I was inspired

by the sharp edges of

modernism, so I decided

to incorporate some of

the principles of

modernism in my design.

I was designing a house

for my self when I was

working on this studio

and I was imagining

every single detail in

my dream home.

The result was a

modern, yet playful

house in which the

views and the activities

can provide a healthy

lifestyle.

Interior designing was

very important at this

stage, as it compliments

the exterior with warm

and cozy living spaces.

The intention was mainly

to bring natural healthy

lighting into almost all

of the spaces inside the

house.

By imagining the kind of

spaces that I would want

to live in, it was easier to

develop spacious rooms

with well connected

functions, as well as

entertainment areas.

• Main entrance door and stairs

to the first floor

• Back door to the pool and back

yard

• Dinning room and natural lighting

that provides a pleasant

environment

• View from the gym in the

basement floor, featuring the

pool and the backyard view

• Kids room in the first

floor, featuring a

beautiful view

next to sheikh Mohamed bin zayed (god bless his

soul) sport city

symmetry and stability of the structure

building

In design studio III, the main focus was on

considering the structure of the facility.

At this point in my studies I was starting

to find my own personal style, where I was

fascinated by organic forms.

I decided to incorporate curved triangular

trusses as the main structure of the

exterior shell. This created a fluid yet

stable structure.

I was also responsible for creating a

functional space inside the facility where

swimming functions are taking place.

The interior spaces of the building was considered as a priority,

as it is where international Olympic swimming events take place.

It was necessary to provide an active and dynamic environment

for every person who comes to this facility.

After The main functions were already designed, the building

was then ready to be covered with a fluid and dynamic envelope.

Community center – studio IV

al qattarah – al ain

In this studio, we were asked to create a connection between the building and its surrounding

environment. The site was surrounded by palm trees and irrigation channels, this was the perfect

chance for me to explore my potential in designing an organic structure that blends in with the

surrounding environment. The concept of this design was inspired by the way people live in that area as

in the tents they spread out and the gathering they have in these tents. The design was basically

inspired by the materials that people use and the kinds of shading they create for their comfort

al qattarah – al ain

After the envelope was designed , I was then ready to

control the lighting and shading aspects of the facility.

I designed a massive skylight that brings in sunlight to

the main spaces and functions within the building.

In the essence of connecting the building with it’s

environment, the skylight was designed to bring in light

in an Islamic pattern which connects with the shading of

palm trees. Further more I decided to bend the rules of

louvers in the exterior edges of the building where they

were flowing with edges of the building to create shaded

spaces.

• Callout A, where the light is divided

into Islamic patterns to compliment

the heritage of the site

• Callout b, where louvers are bent

around the edges of the building to

provide a fluid pattern and shade for

visitors

• an interior shot of the view from the main entrance,

this features a welcoming and exciting space where

people can sense the connection with the outer

environment

Performing arts center – studio VI

al khaleej al arabi– Abu Dhabi

Design studio VI was the course in which I was able to

further develop my architectural style . We were given a

rectangular site to develop a performing arts center

design. Within that space I was able to bend an organic

structure into a fluid form, by giving the main

auditoriums the edges of the site I was able to create

very pleasant interior and exterior spaces. I was also

able to connect the landscaping to the form by creating

organic contours, walkways and golf car tracks.

• Bird view perspective of the

performing arts center, featuring

organic skylights

Water sports resort (graduation project)

saadiyat isalnd – Abu Dhabi

In this project we had complete freedom to choose every single detail, that includes the site, the

project and the functions. As a graduating architect, I was keen to push my self to the maximum

where I can design something that I would one day be proud of. As a professional skimboarder, it was

my absolute pleasure to design something related to water sports. Additionally I needed something

solid that can hold my entertainment park together, so I decided to build a water sports resort.

After designing the water sports, it was time to create a building that compliments my water sports

park and can accommodate water sports fans.

Page 14: Mohamed Ehab Personal Portfolio

saadiyat isalnd – Abu Dhabi

The interior design of this building was decided according to the main functions needed in a hotel.

After the main functions were plotted on site, it was then time to incorporate a touch of fluid and

organic forms. Each floor has a specific curvature angle which causes the floors to cause a wavy

look. Next step was to create pleasant spaces inside the building that would create a sense of

connectivity, this was done by leaving a lot of middle spaces open. The roof mainly consists of

skylights that have organic shaped glass panels, these create a random fluid patches of light on

the ground.

curvature of the floors and the

open spaces within the building

open spaces within the building

and the sunlight that is

skylight shapes

Thank you for taking a look at my personal portfolio. I’m

always eager to learn as much as I can about this field and

to keep pushing my myself to design spaces and structures

that might one day be amongst the most iconic buildings of

the future.

There’s more drawings and details related to these projects,

as well as other projects that I would be more than pleased

to share upon request.
