The Catalyst for ‘Next Generation RFID’

The Opportunity: Track Location Using Passive RFID• Bring benefits of low cost passive UHF tags to active RTLS space• Benefit from global EPC standard for open loop supply chains• New economics for RTLS systems utilizing passive technology• Broader market for EPC standard Gen2 tagging• Enable ubiquitous visibility in large scale deployments

Mojix Technology: A Breakthrough for Passive RFID• Economical, large scale read coverage areas, high capacity deployments• Long range, NLOS capability• Location and tracking • Near 100% accuracy and reliability

Star Receiver

Centralized Receiver: STAR- High sensitive reader reading tags up to 200 m- Cover spaces up to 20’000 m2 with 1 reader- Non Line of Sight

- Aggregation of data-collection

- Single point for command and control

Distributed eNodes- Excitation Nodes only

transmit energy- 4-port external antennas

at each eNode- Scales very well (pay as

you grow)

STAR System Network Architecture

• STAR Receiver: has 3 physical interfaces

– Ethernet– Transmit RF (Coax)– Power

• eMux: splitter and amplifier for the RF transmit signal

• eNodes: up to 4 antennas to excite tags

• Mojix Master Controller: application server for configuration, monitoring and management of up to 8 STAR-receivers

• COAX cable for power feeding and management of eNodes

Mojix Dock Door Discrimination (DDD)

Vorteil 2: Keine Interferenzen

• STAR teilt eNodes/Antennen ein (timeslots)

• eNodes aktivieren Tag, keine Interferenz

• nur 1 STAR Receiver liest alle Tags

Vorteil 1: Eindeutige Zuordnung

• unterscheidet zuverlässig zwischen: • BEREITGESTELLT

• VERLADEN

• nur relevante Daten werden weitergegeben

Page 10: Mojix Presentation (Eng.)

Mojix Dock Door Discrimination

Features: Scalability• One STAR supports 512 eNodes

• No cost for additional power / network runs• “Easy to Expand” visibility

• Additional capabilities over time• Streamlines Data Management

Why is this important?Conventional reader system’s

“single purpose” limits their utility to merely barcode replacement.

This leads to:- Increased total cost of ownership

- Expansion can be a MAJOR project

EPC Standard Based RTLSA New Paradigm in “Track & Trace”

• Emergence of broader market for EPC standard tagging – Mojix STAR system enabling new economics with RTLS

systems utilizing passive technology– Emergence of EPC RTLS solutions in:

• Asset tracking• Factory/warehouse (WIP)• Retail Store (inventory, anti-theft)• Yard management

– Emergence of lower cost battery assisted EPC Gen 2 tags– Performance improvements in newer passive Gen 2 tags
