The meeting started with the Chairman welcoming all.

were approved.

Constitution for ICE Eastern India Region LA –

The draft constitution of the LA sent to ICE HQ has now been approved.

Bhubaneswar visit –

Ayan presented a brief account of the trip Rudraprasad (Graduate and Student Representative) and

he made to the two institutes in Bhubaneswar (KIIT and ITER) to promote ICE and ICE Student

Chapters.

Technical activity –

Ayan informed that a few potential options for hosting technical events are currently being looked

into and any information in this regard would be shared with LA committee in due course of time, as

soon as something materializes.

Student Chapter inauguration –

Two ICE student chapters (NIT and KIIT) have now been approved by ICE HQ whose constitutions

were earlier submitted to Ms. Kathryn Miller for processing. It was suggested that these chapter may

operate in close coordination with the Kolkata LA Committee.

The student chapter at NIT, Kolkata is scheduled to be inaugurated on 30th

April and Parthajit and

Ayan would attend to it.

The student chapter at KIIT, Bhubaneswar is scheduled to be inaugurated probably on 6th

May. Ayan

informed, as none of the LA committee member would be able to travel, this would be inaugurated

by their faculty adviser Dr. Benugopal Mohapatra.

Description Action

Students’ feedback –

It was indicated by one of the student members that sometimes it becomes difficult to get

endorsement from faculty for applying for ICE student membership. It was suggested if a list of

names of potential student members can be collected by any student and submitted to LA committee,

then a formal letter can be issued to the concerned Head of Department (Civil Engineering)

requesting his endorsement.

One other student member indicated that the benefits of being an ICE student member needs to

demonstrated better among the students to raise awareness. It was suggested that a standard ppt

presentation can be shared with the concerned faculty adviser (of the student chapter) for this.

Date of next meeting –

The date of the next LA committee meeting has been tentatively fixed in the first week of July 2014.

The LA committee will continue to meet once every two months. A general meeting with all

members will be hosted at the end of this year.
