Sharing the Fire Across East and Central Africa

At the end of April, 399 alumni have graduated from Cohorts 1-5 of the Center, encouraging the development of alumni chapters in nine countries {in addition to the pilot chapter established in Tanzania in November 2015).

10 Alumni Country Chapters by May 1, 2016

Alumni Chapters are organized to promote the welfare ofYAU Regional Leadership Center East Africa alumni and to provide service to broader community members. Chapters will assist the Center with promoting its programs; encourage fellowship and collaboration among area alumni; host and facilitate events and activities which develop and enhance leadership skills of broader community members; and recruit prospective applicants for future cohorts of the YAU RLC East Africa program.

The following Chapters will be launched and active on May I , 2016: I .Burundi 2.Congo3. Democratic Republic of Congo4.Ethiopia5.Kenya6.Rwanda?.Somalia8.Sudan9.Uganda

The new Alumni Chapters are currently undergoing the elections process in order to vote for the five leadership positions of the Chapters' respective Executive Committees. For more information on the candidates, please view the Chapter webpages on U-Connect, the Center's alumni portal.

Alumni Eagles Continue to Fly High

We continue to be impressed by the many other programsand initiatives with which our alumni are accepted and participate. It is especially gratifying to hear that YAU RLC East Africa alumni have been selected into the YAU Mandela Washington Fellowship, another component of the larger YAU initiative.
