Antonia was the humble mother of 5 children. She lived in the south side suburb of Chicago, Blue Island, IL. She worked as a Parent Liaison at Dwight D. Eisenhower High School helping orientate parents and their children with the public school system. She was the most honest, beautiful, and hospitable woman alive. If you want to hear about the influence she had on the people around her, simply ask any one of them. She has been regarded as a teacher, a servant, a mentor, and a devoted wife and mother. On Nov. 26th, 2010, Antonia was diagnosed with B-Cell Lymphoma. She underwent extensive chemotherapy, radiation, more medications than I can list, and a stem cell transplant. None of her treatments would have been possible without the financial and emotional help from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS). They helped pay for my mom's co-pays for medication, treatment, and health insurance. Without the help of LLS, the treatment my mother needed would not have been possible.

On November 14th, 2011 my mom passed away. She fought valiantly, but the combination of a heart attack and the resurgence of the lymphoma were too much for her body to handle. She came home for hospice care to spend her final time with her family. She died three hours after coming home in the comfort of her living room with her family by her side.

To raise funds for the treatment of Leukemia and Lymphoma for people who could not otherwise afford it. We are going to raise the funds through the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

TREK ACROSS AMERICA This upcoming summer Guadalupe Fernandez, Carlos Salgado, and David Henry will bike from San Francisco, CA to Chicago, IL and then on to Yorktown, VA. Our plan is to camp most nights for approximately two months. Our ultimate goal is to raise money for the LLS to help other families who cannot afford to pay for treatment. My family has been entirely blessed and Guadalupe, Carlos, and David want to help LLS continue to help others.
