This card is a gift from God. This card has had an effect on this beautiful Body of Christ that is St. Francis Parish. This prayer card is why I had the confidence, the courage to apply to serve as your Priest-in-Charge. This prayer card was part of God's answer to my prayers of discernment. With my tendency to over-think, I can easily bog myself down, stuck in indecision. That was where I was when I asked....well, really I told God.... “I want to be at the center of your will. God didn't send a sign. God sent the written message while we were visiting our son in DC....Settling into a pew at St. Paul's, we sat in the pew our friend had selected for us. MOM's Reflections: Communications Breakthrough!

The Rev. Marcia O. McRae

How do you see technology? A blessing? A curse? Both....depending on whether technology is cooperating with you or frustrating you? Much of it helps keep us connected. Much of that connection requires a lot of our time handling our posts and reducing time to be with family & friends. Fortunately, communicating with God requires no technology! [This is a blessing for me because if technology were required....well....I wonder how faithful I would be staying in touch with God. Hmmmm.] My experience staying in touch with God through prayer has changed over time, especially: after John & I made our Cursillo long ago in the

20th century [Georgia #8] when we had the delightful surprise that we

would be parents after 14 years of marriage! when I became a member of the Order of the

Daughters of the King, whose work includes prayer, service & evangelism

when I entered discernment for Holy Orders, eventually becoming a priest and especially as a priest, needing all the guidance I can get AND quiet time in meditative/no talking-just listening/just be still with God.

This last has developed me to be less dense in recognizing God's call, what God wants in a situation. This helps get me to let go of my

agenda, my long list of “God do this...” It reduces my tendency to get in the way & to take back a situation after I hand it over to God for guidance. As a former newspaper editor/writer, I am thankful for the technology that produces printed products, such as this St. Francis prayer card.
