CeSiC Manufacturing
• Felt of randomly orientated Carbon Fibres
• Impregnated with Phenolic resin and moulded into a blank at high pressure
• Vacuum heated to 1000ºC to pyrolize non-carbon components
• Reheated to 2100ºC to turn blank into graphite to produce the green body
• The green body is machined to the desired shape– Stiffening ribs– 1mm wall thicknesses
• Green bodies glued together with Phenolic resin to form a larger composite green body
• Green body is infiltrated with molten Silicon at 1600ºC and furnace cooled
• Resulting structure is monolithic and isotropic
• Feature tolerances ± 10 mm
• Can be EDM machined after structure has been manufactured
