Christmas Dinner - Friday 31st January 2020

On the final day of last term we were due to have a Christmas lunch. Due to changes to the school day, we had to cancel this.

On Friday 31st January 2020, we will be having our school Christmas lunch and will be using the occasion to mark the renaming of Noms to Gill’s to mark the retirement of our longest serving Lunch Time Supervisor.

Orders have now been placed for lunch. Please remember, there will be no other food served during the lunch period other than Christmas lunch Christmas baguettes.

The afternoon will be off timetable as per the previous arrangements.

All students should return to their tutor rooms at 11.55am.

The only exceptions are Mr Roberts and Mr Norths Year 11 Business Intervention classes.

Spring Term House Rewards

This term’s reward is a full morning off timetable on the to go to Hollywood Bowl in Hull. You’ll have access to all 26 lanes with one hours unlimited bowling as well as a meal and drink.

PUNCTUALITY

A reminder that all students are required to be in school by 8.25am. Once the student gates are closed you will need to come in through reception. The late gate will be operated until 8.40am, after this time you will need to sign in at reception.

Students arriving after 8.25am without a valid reason for being late will be issued with a break time detention. If you are late for a second time in the same week a lunchtime detention will be issued. A third day of lateness will now result in an Isolation placement for persistent lateness.


Ski Trip 2020There is one place available for the ski trip leaving on 14th February over the

half term break. If you have an interest in taking it, please see Mr

Wright ASAP.


County Cross Country Teams- Tuesday 28th January

■ We are very fortunate that a large number of students have performed well enough to qualify to represent North Lincolnshire in the County Cross Country on Tuesday 28th January. These students will all be off timetable all day.

■ Students should have already received a letter, if they have not or if they cannot participate please see Mr Wright or Mr O’Mara urgently.

■ Teams have been communicated to students and parents.


North Lincs Dodgeball Tournament- Monday 27th January

■ 14 students have been selected to represent Baysgarth in the North Lincolnshire Dodgeball tournament.

■ If you have not received a letter or cannot participate, please see Mr Wright immediately.


North Lincolnshire GIRLS Dodgeball Tournament-Monday 3rd February

■ 32 students have been selected to represent Baysgarth in the North Lincolnshire Dodgeball tournament.

Active in Mind Leadership Day- Monday 3rd February

■ The following students have been selected to take part in a leadership training day with ex professional tennis player, Jade Windley, on Monday 3rd February 2020. They will be off timetable all day:

PiXL Pop Up Restaurant Activity

Hospitality & Catering and Business students are taking part in a PiXL Pop Up Restaurant project, in which they will be tasked with setting up and hosting a pop up

restaurant at the school in six weeks time. The students involved will be off timetable on Monday 27th January during Period 2 & form time, to meet the chef involved,

Food Room Out of Bounds for GCSE Exams

Room 004 will be OUT OF BOUNDS to ALL students on the following dates due to the practical food

exams that need to be completed by the KS4 students. Any food technology lessons will be delivered in

another classroom on the exam days with a sign placed near the door of room 004 to notify of room

changes. DO NOT ENTER ROOM 004 DURING THE EXAMS.

PRACTICAL EXAM DATES:

Year 11: Wednesday 5th February 8.00am-2.30pm

Year 10: Tuesday 24th, Wednesday 25th & Friday 27th March 8.00am-2.30pm


Reminder:

The first and second floors are out of bounds during breaks and lunchtimes.

If you are caught out of bounds, you will receive a lunch detention.


Local Students who walk or cycle to school

The school is receiving an increasing number of calls from concerned residents over the dangerous behaviour of a minority of students who either walk or cycle to school.

It has been reported that groups of students are deliberately walking out in front of vehicles forcing them to break suddenly.

This is very dangerous to yourselves and other road users.

The school can insist that students who pose a risk to other pedestrians and road users are dropped off and collected each day by a member of their family.


The following sports leaders are going to be off timetable on Wednesday 29th January as they are

running the KS2 Swimming Gala at Baysgarth Leisure Centre. They are to meet Mrs Haynes at the Sports

Hall at 8.30am. They are to be in their Sports Leaders t-shirt, shorts/leggings, trainers/flip flops/sliders.

Volleyball Teams

Volleyball practice with Miss Roberts started on Wednesday 8th January.

Students from Year 9, 10 and 11 are welcome.

If you are interested see Miss Roberts and come along to the Sports Hall on Wednesday.

You could also join the Local Volleyball team that Miss Roberts Coaches which include summer tournaments and beach tournaments (ask for details).

Our first matches are only a few weeks away!!


Netball ClubNetball Club is open to all years and restarted on Thursday 16th January.

You need to meet Mrs Haynes at the Sports Hall with your PE kit.

Sessions are free and they run 2.40-3.40pm.

India 2021 Staff Car Wash

On Monday the 10th February, the expedition team are holding a car wash, open to all staff. Anyone who

would like to support this fundraising activity and to get your car cleaned should look no further! The team

are here to offer staff the opportunity to get their car cleaned for only £5.

Staff who are interested should send Edward and Matthew their number plate.

We will come around forms to collect money from teachers who

want their cars cleaned.
