Last week was Children’s Arts Week across the UK and it really got me thinking about some of the interesting art that students at Vanguard have been creating. Ms Perrotta is working exceptionally hard to put these artworks on display around the school. Some of my favourites are this piece from Rheinhold (above), it reminds me so much of summer and I love the textures. Another piece that really stands out to me is this one on the right by Ivory. The contrast of colours feels both enticing and like a warning at the same time. See what you can spot around the school and let us know the pieces you like. Transition - 3rd & 4th September

First Day of Term all other students 7th September

Welcome!Last week was Children’s Arts Week across the UK and it really got me thinking about some of the interesting art that students at Vanguard have been creating. Ms Perrotta is working exceptionally hard to put these artworks on display around the school. Some of my favourites are this piece from

Rheinhold (above), it reminds me so much of summer and I love the textures. Another piece that really stands out to me is this one on the right by Ivory. The contrast of colours feels both enticing and like a warning at the same time. See what you can spot around the school and let us know the pieces you like. Fibonacci Deduction Leonard writes down a sequence of numbers. After the first two numbers, each number is the sum of the previous two numbers in the sequence. The fourth number is 6 and the sixth number is 15.

What is the seventh nuber in the sequence? Email your answers to [email protected]

GUESS WHO? Which member of staff is hidden behind this book? Email your response to [email protected] The first student to correctly identify the teacher

and email us gets 25 Vang points.

SELF-CARE CORNER When you need to escape,

why not choose a television series where the

characters are kind to each other. Steven

Universe is still a favourite of mine because of this.

THOUGHT OF THE WEEK Failure can be a great teacher, if not the best teacher. Success is not

something that happens by accident, it comes from hard work and evaluating

your mistakes. Michael Jordan famously said:

“I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career.

I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game-winning

shot and missed. I've failed over and over and

over again in my life.”

ARE GAMES REALLY THAT BAD FOR YOU? BY OLIVER, YEAR 7 It’s not true. This is all superstition. Here are my top tips to help you

convince your parents that gaming is completely ok.

1.Games such as Minecraft can help your child develop their creative

skills. Additionally  Minecraft is like building lego because the possibilities

are endless to what you can build and the limit is your imagination.

2. Hand to eye coordination can develop with Minecraft. If you need to get

down to somewhere but there is some lava then you can jump down and

place some blocks on the ceiling and keep placing the blocks down as you're

falling then place a block below you to make sure you don't die in lava.

3. I have also played a very big amount of very violent  games aside from

Fortnite, because that's not violent. For example I have played Apex Legends

and quite a few other violent games that I won’t talk about here but aside

from that I have never hit anyone ever unless they make me really upset so

necessarily video games don’t cause violence.

4. Learning tutorials on youtube can really help you with what you want to do.

Say in Fortnite if you wanted to make the Crab Rave song in Fortnite then if

you look up a tutorial it can become pretty easy. That is what I am trying to do

in a Fortnite creative map with the music blocks that you can get in the

galleries section of the creative inventory.

5. Multiplayer can 100% help your child develop team working skills like helping

a teammate in Fortnite or helping your friend in Minecraft to build something

or reviving your knocked teammate in Fortnite there are so many multiplayer

games that help with team working skills.
