Page 10: Monday, April 12 th 1.Weather Journal 2.Cloud Types 3.Sky Photos

Page 14: Monday, April 12 th 1.Weather Journal 2.Cloud Types 3.Sky Photos

Mammatus are pouches hanging from the bottom of a cloud

Page 15: Monday, April 12 th 1.Weather Journal 2.Cloud Types 3.Sky Photos

Sometimes a “Wall Cloud” will form

Page 16: Monday, April 12 th 1.Weather Journal 2.Cloud Types 3.Sky Photos

This is a part of the cloud that lowers really close to the ground

Page 17: Monday, April 12 th 1.Weather Journal 2.Cloud Types 3.Sky Photos

90% of all tornadoes form from Wall Clouds

Page 18: Monday, April 12 th 1.Weather Journal 2.Cloud Types 3.Sky Photos

The other type of low cloud is a “Stratus” Cloud

Page 19: Monday, April 12 th 1.Weather Journal 2.Cloud Types 3.Sky Photos

These are layer or blanket clouds

Page 20: Monday, April 12 th 1.Weather Journal 2.Cloud Types 3.Sky Photos

They are the clouds on gray, dreary days

Page 21: Monday, April 12 th 1.Weather Journal 2.Cloud Types 3.Sky Photos

Stratus are most common in winter

Page 22: Monday, April 12 th 1.Weather Journal 2.Cloud Types 3.Sky Photos

If a stratus cloud forms on the ground….

Page 23: Monday, April 12 th 1.Weather Journal 2.Cloud Types 3.Sky Photos

It is called “Fog”

Page 24: Monday, April 12 th 1.Weather Journal 2.Cloud Types 3.Sky Photos

If a stratus cloud Rains….

Page 25: Monday, April 12 th 1.Weather Journal 2.Cloud Types 3.Sky Photos

It’s called a “Nimbostratus”

Page 26: Monday, April 12 th 1.Weather Journal 2.Cloud Types 3.Sky Photos

The next level of clouds are “Mid-Level” Clouds

“Alto” is a word meaning middle

Page 27: Monday, April 12 th 1.Weather Journal 2.Cloud Types 3.Sky Photos

“Altocumulus” are cumulus clouds higher in the atmosphere

Page 28: Monday, April 12 th 1.Weather Journal 2.Cloud Types 3.Sky Photos

Many times they look like popcorn

Page 29: Monday, April 12 th 1.Weather Journal 2.Cloud Types 3.Sky Photos

“Altostratus” look very much like regular Stratus clouds

Page 30: Monday, April 12 th 1.Weather Journal 2.Cloud Types 3.Sky Photos

But they are sometimes thinner and not complete across the sky

Page 31: Monday, April 12 th 1.Weather Journal 2.Cloud Types 3.Sky Photos

The highest clouds in the sky are Cirrus Clouds.

They form so high up that all the water in them has frozen to ice

Page 32: Monday, April 12 th 1.Weather Journal 2.Cloud Types 3.Sky Photos

Cirrus Clouds are very white in color…..

Page 33: Monday, April 12 th 1.Weather Journal 2.Cloud Types 3.Sky Photos

…and wispy in shape

Page 34: Monday, April 12 th 1.Weather Journal 2.Cloud Types 3.Sky Photos
