Monday Morning Footnotes Spring 2015, Issue 15: April 2026 House Keeping Annual Student Academic/Performance Review Junior and Seniors: Remember to signup for a time slot for your annual review. The signup list is posted just inside the door of the KIND office, room 204 of the AC. The assessments will be on MondayMay 4, TuesdayMay 5, and WednesdayMay 6. You will begin with a 10minute discussion by addressing the following: How have you improved? In what areas do you struggle? What are your goals for next semester? The faculty will spend the next 10 minutes in a dialogue with you about your progress. This meeting is a positive approach for you to talk to us and for us to give you feedback. It is the only time, each year that we get to sit down with you and talk about YOU and where you are headed. Words for Reflection We have accomplished much this academic school year. We have had three concerts at the Center for the Arts, six concerts at Rentfrow Gym, another successful Look Who Dancing at Pan Am Center, participated in 3 competitions and 1 conference (brought home national championships and choreographic honors), volunteered and conducted research at a local elementary school since September, and participated in numerous community service projects. Ann Gavit became a full time College faculty member. We have the largest graduating class, which includes undergraduate and graduate students and many dance minors. The year has been full of creativity with so many new choreographies by students and faculty. We have been able to add to our dance scholarship funds. High School Dance Day was an enormous success with over 130 dancers participating in a full day of dance classes. We have traveled to Collin College and local high schools to teach, perform, and choreograph as another way to recruit students. Bond C passed and we have continued to raise money for the Rentfrow renovation. If all goes as planned, renovation will begin this summer. WOW! We have been very busy. These accomplishment are the result of so many people’s determined tenacity, vision, drive, and hard headedness. For us, it took all of us! Our past and future success depends on each one of us to keep showing up (day after day) and believing that we can make a difference. So here are a few quotes on accomplishments. I started reading about people of great accomplishment... and it dawned on me suddenly that the person who has the most to do with what happens in your life is you. Benjamin Carson The supreme accomplishment is to blur the line between work and play. Arnold J. Toynbee Selfimage sets the boundaries of individual accomplishment. Maxwell Maltz It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit. Harry S. Truman Look at a day when you are supremely satisfied at the end. It's not a day when you lounge around doing nothing; it's a day you've had everything to do and you've done it. Margaret Thatcher Annual Dance Awards Banquet We have had 80 RSVPs for our awards banquet. We will be honoring our graduates and presenting awards for Excellence in Performance, Excellence in Choreography, Excellence in Leadership, Excellence in Teaching, Most Improved Dancer, as well as, presenting awards to community organizations that have provided exceptional support to our dance program. Si Señor will be catering this event. I am looking forward to celebrating with everyone our accomplishment for the year.
