Western Province Chinese Association July 14 2014 MONDAY WRAP Always Free ISSUE NO.6 Bamboo Inn Restaurant Back: Jeanette Hiu, Bertram Lee, Cilla Lee Pan Front: Mrs Hiu and Mei Yung Lee Bamboo Inn Mr & Mrs Bertram Lee and Mr & Mrs Fah Loong Lee Pan opened the Bamboo Inn in 1971. The restaurant was located at 47 Bree Street, Cape Town. Fah Loong Lee Pan left in 1977 and started the Rice Bowl takeaways in Claremont. A few years later Mr & Mrs Bertram Lee retired and Hugent Chong took over the business and later relocated to Bellville. It was closed when Hugent retired. Uncle and Aunt Bertram Lee, Aunt Lee Pan and Hugent Chong are no longer with us. Rice Bowl This takeaway was started by Fah Loong Lee Pan in Claremont.The location became a BMW show room and the Rice Bowl relocated to Plumstead. In 1996 Fah Loong retired and sold the business which is still operating as a Chinese takeaway. Uncle Fah Loong continues enjoying mah-jong sessions every Sunday afternoon.
