Goals of the CWSRF Program

Short‐Term Goals:• Continue efforts to streamline the funding 

process to ensure the funds are used in an  expeditious and timely manner in accordance 

with the Clean Water Act.• Increase efforts to inform local government 

units of the availability of funds, benefits of  the CWSRF program, and funding process 

improvements.

Pine Knoll Shores East End Neighborhood

Problem:•During severe rain events the public roads are 

continuously flooding.•Town needs a viable option to keep public roads 

from becoming flooded and impassable during  significant rain events.  

•Stormwater is pumped directly into the Pine Knoll  Waterway canal and then discharges into Bogue 

Sound– Emergency response.  Stormwater is not treated

Proposed Project:•Discharge treated stormwater into the Bogue Sound•BMPs in series

– Use existing golf course ponds as wet detention basins– Provide a level spreader at the end of the gravity pipe to 

• reduce velocity and to widen the flow of treated  stormwater entering Bogue Sound

•Stormwater will have sufficient time for treatment.

Cost: $419,000

Raleigh Upper Longview Lake & Stream Enhancement

Problem:•Degradation of Longview Branch and Tributary•Degradation of wildlife and aquatic habitat in the stream, wetland 

and lake•Excessive accumulated sediment loads in the lake and wetland•Decreased water quality capabilities of the lake and wetlandProposed Project:•Remove accumulated sediment from Upper Longview Lake and area 

of recently created wetlands•Improve channel stability and system pollutant removal capability, •Improve the capacity of the stream, lake and wetland to support life•Safety and Aesthetics Cost: $3,041,216
