    This document describes the steps needed to setup monitoring of stand-alone host. Please remember theprerequisite for Technical Monitor setup is Diagnostic setup, which should be finished prior to TechnicalMonitor setup.

    The following steps are necessary which are described in detail in separate chapters

    1.) You need to create a technical system of type Unspecificwhich contains information about thestandalone hosts you want to monitor

    2.) You need to perform the Managed System Setup for your new technical system.3.) You perform the System Monitoring Setup for your new technical system4.) You can review the results in the System Monitoring application

    1 CREATE TECHNICAL SYSTEM FOR HOST

    1. To create Technical System directly via Technical System Editor, firstly open System Configuration

    wizard via transaction: SOLMAN_SETUP. And then, select Managed System Configuration->System Operations->Create Systemto launch Technical System Editor. Alternatively, you can

    use transaction LMDBto open Technical System Editordirectly.

    2. In TechnicalSystem Editor, choose Unspecific Cluster System (UNSPECIFIC) in dropdown list andclick Nextto continue.

    3. In DefineSystem, input the system name and assign othersfor technology type. The Central

    Host Name can remain empty. Click Next.

    4. Click Saveto finish Technical System creation. And then, the Technical System Editor dialogue willpop up, which allows us to define more information about our technical system.

    5. In Define Header Data, view the information and ensure it is correct. Click Nextto continue.

    6. In Assign Database, click Nextto skip this step.

    7. In Define Technical Instance, click Addand fill out Server Name, Technology Type with Othersand Host. After completing, choose Okand Next.

    8. In Maintain assigned Softwarestep, click Add. In pop-up windows, input Solution ManagerStandard Custom Product 1.0as search condition. And then, click Addto complete softwarecomponent assignment. Finally, click Saveto finish Technical System creation. To view thedetailed definition click Display Navigation Tree.

    9. Select "Installed" button.

    10. In navigation tree view, you can evaluate and adjust the definition. If everything is ok, click Saveto finish technical system setup.

    2 MANAGED SYSTEM SETUP

    1. Open the configuration wizard for SAP Solution Manager via transaction: SOLMAN_SETUP

    2. Select Managed System Configuration.3. Select system type of the system we want to configure. Typically, choose Unspecifictype.

    4. For Unspecific based systems, we need to select the Technical System for configuration.

    5. Select Configure Systemto lunch configuration wizard.

    6. In Select Product, click Editto enter edit mode and ensure statues indicator is green. Click Next

    to finish.

    7. The check prerequisites checks if all requirements for configuring diagnostics are fulfilled on the

    managed system. Select Executeto automatically perform the check. If there are some errors and

    warnings, such as Managed System does not meet the Diagnostics prerequisites etc, you can simply

    ignore. The detailed results can be accessed through the Showlink in the log table after selecting

    the line item for the check. Click Nextto jump in the next step.

    8. In Assign Diagnostics Agentstep, please choose the agent we setup on the managed system and

    choose Assignto attach the agent to the current Solution Manager.

    9. In Enter System Parameters, choose Introscope EM in Enter System Parameters, which SMD

    agent will collect data from.

    10. In Enter landscape Parameterstep, click next to skip for host system setup.

    11. The last step is to configure system by selecting Execute All. Ensure all the Status indicators are

    green. In case of red indication, please open Showlink to see the detailed message.

    4 SYSTEM MONITORING APPLICATION

    1. Open System Monitor workbench via transaction: SM_WORKCENTER. Choose the SystemMonitorapplication and select in the Type Selection Hosts

    2. Search for the host you want to monitor, select it and start the Host Monitoring application

    3. Here, you get System Monitor for the host.
