WIGSALON.COM PRESENTS…

MONOFILAMENT WIGS

WHAT IS A MONOFILAMENT WIG?

Monofilament wigs have a specialized cap construction

Mono caps feature a sheer mesh fabric that allows skin color to show through for a very natural looking scalp and hairline.

Fibers on a monofilament wig can be hand-tied or machine sewn. This results in the hair falling naturally, no matter which way you choose to part them.

WHY CHOOSE A MONOFILAMENT WIG??

Monofilament caps can be more comfortable.

The smooth mesh is soft to touch which creates less scalp irritation.

They have tabs for placement of double sided tape to secure wig to scalp if necessary.

Are a great choice for those experiencing partial or complete hair loss

Gives the illusion of natural hair growth.

MONOFILAMENT CONSTRUCTION

 HAND-TIED VS MACHINE SEWN

In a hand-tied construction, each hair is individually sewn onto a specific area of the wig cap's base.

One of the advantages of hand-tying each hair is that it tightly secures the hair strands to the material, and reduces the amount of shedding.

Hand tied monofilament wigs are more realistic and expensive because of the labor involved.

Machine-sewn monofilament wigs offer all the same basic advantages as hand-tied mono wigs, but with a tad less bi-directional motion.

Instead of single hairs, small groups of hair are tied together.

This reduces the amount of movement achieved by a hand-tied wig, but this makes the wig less expensive to manufacture.

Translucent monofilament material covers the majority of the crown; the back of the cap has machine-wefts, which adds ventilation

TYPES OF MONOFILAMENT WIGS

1. FULL MONOFILAMENT TOP

A translucent monofilament material covers just a portion of the crown while the rest of the cap is machine-wefted.

2. MONOFILAMENT CROWN

Translucent monofilament material exists in the part are only, usually on the left side, this makes the part look very natural and keeps the rest of the wig cool.

IS A MONOFILAMENT WIG RIGHT FOR YOU?

Monofilament wigs are specially designed for those with severe or total hair loss.

Most of their advantages are in comfort, but there are some advantages to the natural styling ease as well.

If you are trying to achieve the natural look, the monofilament fabric itself is nearly transparent, and so takes on the approximate color of your own natural scalp.
