On behalf of the Montgomery Business Association, welcome to Montgomery FunFest! We are excited to start a tradition here in Montgomery of celebrating our local community. With more than a hundred booths showcasing local businesses and services, art, contemporary crafts, culinary delights, and more, our 1st annual FunFest is guaranteed to be a great success.
We are thankful for how well FunFest has been received by the community and are proud that it reflects Montgomery’s community spirit. Our goal is to create a town tradition that local residents would think not to miss. We appreciate that so many local business members, restaurants, and community organizations are contributing to the event’s success.
As you begin to explore FunFest, expect to find a variety of food vendors serving everything from paella to funnel cakes. Make sure to feast upon tasty treats such as sushi, BBQ, gyro, falafel, Chinese food, tacos, wood fired pizza, ice cream, kettle corn, cheesecake on a stick, and pastries. Stop by the main hanger to enjoy our farm-to-table feast served by the Terra Momo Group of restaurants, including Eno Terra, Mediterra, Teresa Café, Terra Momo Bread Company, and the Terra Learning Kitchen.
Take a break from snacking to enjoy all that FunFest has to offer. Fire trucks, planes, helicopters, and classic cars are all on display. You can even visit the Honda of Princeton booth to test drive their latest models. Attendees can also enjoy games of skill, helicopter rides, inflatable obstacle courses, and children’s activities, including face painting, sand art, and balloon animals. You can even end the day with a balloon ride!
During your time at FunFest, we hope you enjoy the abundance of local entertainment spread throughout the festival. The Radio 101.5 Van will be at the event from 1-3 p.m. The bands GoodWorks, Acoustic Road, Fitz and the Cats, Dangerous New Highs, and The Shaxe will play on the two main stages. There will also be demonstrations by local dance studios (including the MHS dance team and Dance Exposure) and taekwondo studios. Princeton Center for Yoga & Health and Gymboree will have interactive activities for the whole family.
Montgomery FunFest is truly a community centered event. The goal of this first annual event is to connect individuals, families, schools, local businesses, and non-profit organizations to celebrate our community. We can’t wait to see members of our community gather together and enjoy a wonderful day at FunFest. Make sure to stop by all our local businesses’ booths to learn more about the wonderful services they offer. Montgomery Business Association members will be selling merchandise and many will be offering free gifts. Our success today is due to the dedication, generosity, and hard work of our FunFest committee, sponsors, and volunteers. We truly appreciate the collaborative effort that has gone into making this event an enjoyable day for all. We are particularly grateful to our sponsors without whom FunFest would not be possible. Sponsors include, but are not limited to, the Montgomery Economic Development Commission, St. Charles Borromeo Church, the Packet Media Group, Honda of Princeton, Terra Momo Restaurant Group, Volition Wellness Solutions, the Digital Cycle, Belle Mead Orthodontics, RE/MAX, and the Princeton Sun.
Included in this guide is a list of sponsors, vendors, and performances scheduled throughout the day. We encourage you to explore and enjoy the sights and delights of Montgomery FunFest.

Letter from the Montgomery Business Association
We are proud to produce the 1st Annual Montgomery FunFest at Princeton Airport. We are excited to host this flagship event celebrating and promoting local businesses, introducing them to the community at large.
When you shop at Montgomery’s local businesses, you help to build a strong, sustainable community. Shop here, dine here, and use our local services. The investment in your community will pay off every day. Recent statistics from the American Independent Business Association (amiba.net) show that for every $100 spent in an independent business, between $48 and $68 stays in the local economy (creating local jobs, funding salaries, purchasing local goods and services). Significantly less money stays in the local economy when national chains and online shopping are considered.
MBA History:The Montgomery Business Association, founded in 2010, grew out of the desires of several community groups to foster local businesses and encourage local shopping: Montgomery Township Environmental Commission, Sustainable Montgomery, Montgomery Friends of Open Space, and the Township Economic Development Commission were all involved in the founding of the 501(c) (6) organization.
The founding board members were all local, independent business owners, but we did not limit our membership and advocacy only to independent businesses. Franchise owners and employees of larger businesses live and shop in town as well, and our mission is to build awareness to and drive shoppers towards all Montgomery-based businesses. We also wanted to expand awareness of the many local service businesses in our midst, which are not often located in a visible retail space.
The MBA is a not-for-profit network of local shops, restaurants, and professional service businesses that came together to promote a greater sense of community in Montgomery by supporting our town and each other. We are proud to continue our work on our initial goals: Keep more money circulating in the local economy Protect our environment with less driving Strengthen the sense of community among residents and businesses Enhance the special nature of Montgomery living
Accomplishments:In the last five years, the MBA has been hard at work. We’ve
Promoted members through holiday advertising, other print ads, Facebook, at Earth Day, the MFOS Farmers Market, and various local events.
Built a network of members who proudly display the ShopLocalMontgomery sign
Established the Annual Breakfast with the Mayor Event Hosted Business Networking Social Events and Holiday Parties for our members
and friends Offered a series of business education seminars in collaboration with Mary
Jacobs Library Co-produced (with the Drift Family) the Montgomery Rodeo in 2013 and 2014 Collaborated with the Township EDC to promote and distribute the Business
Directory
In 2015:
We instituted a ShopLocalMontgomery Welcome Bag for new residents: The Welcome Bag contains information from the Township and our members about what a vibrant community they have chosen, and the local resources we provide to them. Realtor members of the MBA present them at closing to our new residents.
We launched the First Annual Montgomery FunFest. This flagship event of the MBA is for, by, and with our member businesses, local non-profits, schools, and community groups. Music, food, fun at the Airport—with a decided Montgomery flavor.
And we are introducing, at the FunFest, the ShopLocalMontgomery Special Offer Card. Present your card to a merchant showing the ShopLocalMontgomery logo to find out what’s special for MBA supporters. Sign up is available at the FunFest at the Main Table. To find local merchant offers and maintain our vibrant local economy, stop in wherever you see our shopping bag logo.
Many hands, from the Township, local organizations, local business owners, and individuals, have made the MBA a thriving organization and we are thankful for each and every one. But most of all, we thank our customers, the community that supports its local businesses and allows us to thrive.

Montgomery FunFest focuses on familyBy Lea Kahn Staff Writer

rom local bands to local restaurants and local businesses — all will be on display for Montgomery Township residents at
the Montgomery FunFest, set for Sept. 13 from noon to 5 p.m. at the Princeton Airport on Route 206.
The community festival, which backers hope will attract visitors from Montgomery Township and surrounding towns, aims to highlight the retail and service businesses in the township at a family-friendly event, said Montgomery FunFest co-chairs Jean Robinson and Todd Royer.
Admission is free. The cost to park at the Princeton Airport is $5 per car, but there is free parking available in the parking lots at the office parks across Route 206, opposite the Princeton
Airport. The goal of the event is connect individuals,
families, schools, local businesses and non-profit organizations to celebrate the community, said Mr. Royer. He chairs Montgomery Township’s Economic Development Commission, which is one of the event sponsors.
“The idea (behind Montgomery FunFest) is to bring the community and the businesses together, and have fun doing it. We want to showcase the best that Montgomery has to offer,” said Ms. Robinson, who sits on the Montgomery Business Association’s board of directors.
Many businesses have a storefront, but there are also many services that do not have a retail presence — which means that many people
do not know about them, said Lorette Pruden, co-founder and president of the Montgomery Business Association. FunFest is one way to introduce them to the public.
“This is (also) a way for people to get to know what’s going on in town,” Ms. Pruden said.
While businesses will have booths set up at the Princeton Airport, there will be plenty of “fun” in FunFest and more than enough for people to do, its backers said. There will be lots and lots of food from local restaurants, such as Sahara, Ya Ya Noodles, New World Pizza, Alfonso’s Pizzeria and Restaurant, Thomas Sweet and the five eateries that makeup the Terra Momo Restaurant Group.¶

Kettle corn, cheesecake on a stick, ice cream, sushi, Gyro, falafel, Chinese food, tacos and funnel cake also are on the menu. The food truck Oink and Moo will serve beef and pork barbeque to hungry visitors, while a farm-to-table feast is on tap inside the main hangar.
There will be plenty of music, too, from local bands that include the GoodWorks, Acoustic Road, Fitz and the Cats, Dangerous New Highs, Perfectly Sharp and the Shaxe. Tuna Balloon also will be making an appearance at FunFest. The Montgomery High School drum line is scheduled to perform, too.
Children’s activities include face-painting, pony rides, games of skills, an inflatable obstacle course, a football toss, sand art and henna tattoos. There will be demonstrations of yoga and taekwondo, and dance performances.
Since youngsters — and some oldsters — are drawn to fire trucks, they will be able to explore a fire truck and an ambulance, courtesy of Montgomery Volunteer Fire Co. No. 2 and the Montgomery Emergency Medical Service.
And for those who stick around to the very last hour or so, there is an opportunity to go on a hot-air balloon ride.
“There will be more than enough for families and visitors to do and eat,” Ms. Robinson said.
