appy October! We are kicking off this Autumn
season with some really fun activities happening this month. We have a trip planned to Shaw Farms for a visit to the educational barn and hayrides on Oct. 6.
I know all of our kids are very busy coming up with unique costume ideas for Halloween. They will have an opportunity to “preview” their Halloween fashions at our annual Trunk or Treat at Montgomery Park on Oct. 19. In addition, we all need to start thinking of fun costume ideas for ourselves for our Fall Halloween Couples party on Oct. 22! It will be a fun-filled evening, so be sure to mark your calendars!
The deadline for membership dues was Sept. 30. If you were not able to get your information to Shannon Weinstein, member forms are available online and
can be submitted electronically, as well as an option to pay dues via PayPal.
In addition, we are also now able to submit payment for any MNO activities via the website and PayPal! Much thanks for all the hard work the website team has done to make this all happen.
Please remember to fill out our Talent Directory form if you would like to be included in that section of the Directory. Forms were sent out by email; however, if you didn’t receive one, please let me know, and I would be happy to get that to you. Oct. 15 is the deadline to get that information into Shannon Weinstein for inclusion in this year’s directory.
Hope everyone has a terrific month!
Best,Regan Van Kerckhove

Groups were formed based on age and scheduling availability. If there was a scheduling conflict, it is possible someone may not have been placed in a group. If you decide that you would now like to join a group or your availability has changed, please let me know. I can keep a list for new playgroup formations or try to incorporate you into a current playgroup. KIDS’ COSTUME SAFETYAdapted from the Halloween Safety Website
When dressing up your child for Halloween, keep these tips in mind.1.Look for a costume made of flame-
retardant material. If you will be making your own, you can spray the fabric with a fire-retardant solution.
2. Adhere reflector strips to the costume and have your child carry flashlights or light sticks, so he/she can be seen by you and drivers in the dark.
3.Make sure the costume fits properly and does not drag on the ground, which may cause tripping. Check eye holes on masks to see if they are big enough for your child to maintain front and peripheral vision.
4.Inspect props to ensure that they are made of flexible plastic that will bend if your child falls on it.
Have fun, stay safe! Happy Halloween!
ark your calendar for Make A Difference Day
on Sat., Oct. 22!!!! The City of Montgomery is
organizing non-profits around the city in order to make a big impact on our community. Montgomery Moms will be participating. See the flyer from the city on the next page of this newsletter for more information.
This is a GREAT way to help your children learn to give of themselves. Here’s the plan:
8 a.m. to 10 a.m.—Breakfast at Ascension Lutheran Church, 7333 Pfeiffer Road, $3 donation suggested.
10 a.m. to noon—Twin Lakes, 9840 Montgomery Rd.
We will be making cards for the troops! This is appropriate
for any age child. We’ll have a bunch of stamps, stickers and markers for decorating and will have a special typewritten message to be glued into the cards.
We will also be making sandwiches for a downtown food pantry. This is appropriate for ages 4 and older. We will provide the bread, meat and cheese, and the kids will put together 100 sandwiches to be delivered downtown.
Please RSVP to Pam McCallen if you didn’t already sign up at the membership meeting.
We are also collecting your gently used books to donate to Children’s Hospital again this year. You can bring them to any Membership meeting.

would love to share with you a swimming survival program that my 3-year-old daughter
just completed. It’s called ISR, and her teacher is Kim Magella. This is, by far, the best way I have spent money on any swim lesson. I wish I had known about it when my son was younger.
ISR teaches infants and children ages 6 months to 6 years old how to survive by using a swim-float-swim technique. It teaches a child to save their own life if ever they find themselves in the water without help. It really works. Don't miss out on the Nov. 1 meeting to learn more about this important topic.
Kim Magella’s email address is [email protected]. The national website is www.infantswim.com and the local website is www.isrcincinnati.com.—Ann Uhlman
