Month of April, 2017 VIKASH GROUP OF INSTITUTIONS
CELEBRATION OF UKTAL DIWAS
The Utkal Diwas was celebrated at Vikash Group of
Institutions Sason. Dr. Hrusikesh Meher was the Chief
Guest at the occasion. The aim of the programme was to
promote Odia language and values in the students and to
instill a spirit in them to learn from the works of Odia poets
and writers. The day is significant as on this day Odisha
emerged as an independent state on being separated from
the Bengal province under the British rule. The Chief Guest
was felicitated by Mr. Sanjeeb Kumar Baboo, Principal
Vikash Junior College, and Mrs. Sanjukta Dash, Principal
Vikash the Concept School.
WELCOME CEREMONY FOR FOUNDATION COURSE STUDENTS
The Foundation Course started on April 1,
2017. The students were welcomed by the teachers and
staff members of Vikash Junior College, Sason. They
were given a ritualistic welcome by offering tilak and
prasada. The 40 day Foundation Course has been
planned for the 10th
appeared students to give them a
strong foundation for the +2 course. The basic concepts
are emphasized and care is taken to ensure the joyful
learning in the form of different academic and co
curricular activities.
Dear Parents,
Time is rapidly changing; with this new challenges are coming to our life. From which our generation next is
also not separated. Rather they have to face more challenges than us. Thus it is our responsibility that we teachers,
parents and guardians counsel them properly and guide them to be self dependent and confident. It’s a big challenge
that the new generation is very less conscious about their duties and more aware about their rights. Certainly right
follows the duties, we have to make them know about this and without self effort nothing good can be achieved in
life. Let our children realize this, so, that they can realize their dreams.

O this pre ise, a orkshop o dra a as orga ized at Vikash Group of I stitutio s, Sason on April 12, 2017. Mr. Pradeep Panda, the role player of Sakrajit Mahamantri at Dhanu Yatra in Bargarh, and
Mr. Dayanidhi Padhan, program committee member at the Dhanu yatra, were the Chief Guests on this occasion. The
Guests delivered their talks on the concept of action, emotion and expression in drama. The CHSE Foundation
students presented a drama based on the principles.
INAUGURATION OF WALL MAGAZINE ADYASILA SRUJANI
The Wall Magazi e Adyasila Sruja i as i augurated by
Mr. Sishir Chandra Sahoo, PGT Navodaya Vidyalaya. The magazine
is an attempt to develop the skills of creative expression in the
students. The board was beautifully decorated with colourful
sketches, and the poems and articles written by the students of
2nd Year and Foundation Course has been displayed. The Wall
Magazine shall be updated periodically on different festivals and
occasions.
WORLD HEALTH DAY
World Health Day was celebrated at the Vikash Group
of Institutions Sason on April 7, 2017. Mrs. Girija Devi, Yoga
Guru of Patanjali Yoga Kendra Sambalpur, was the Chief Guest
at the occasion. Dr. Dilip Nanda delivered a talk on the
significance of the World Health Day. The Chief Guest took a
class on Pranayams and other asanas which serve as an escape
from all the stress and strains of daily life. The Chief Guest was
acknowledged with a token of respect by Mrs. Sanjukta Dash,
Principal Vikash the Concept School and Mr. Sanjeeb Kumar
Baboo, Principal Vikash Junior College.

SPOKEN ENGLISH COURSE
The Spoken English Course for the students of Foundation Course started on April 3, 2017. The students have
been imparted lessons on Phonetics, Stress and Accent to speak English in a standard way. Different activities in the form
of Role Plays and Seminars are being taken. The students have been divided into groups of two and are assessed
regularly. The students showing improvement are being acknowledged. The Course has been framed taking care about
the needs of the non- English medium students.

SEMINAR ON FIRST-AID & SUN STROKE
A Seminar on First Aid and Sun Stroke was conducted by Dr.
Dilip Nanda for the students of Foundation Course. The students
were advised on the ways in which Sun Stroke can be prevented and
treated. The knowledge of First Aid can prove to be of great benefit
to deal with the common-place illnesses and accidents. The students
were illustrated the first aid techniques by giving live examples.
A SEMINAR ON GLOBAL WARMING
A Seminar on Global Warming was presented by the
students of Foundation Course. Prof. Malaya Ranjan Mahanand,
Sambalpur University, was the Chief Guest at the occasion. Dr.
Mahanand delivered a lecture on afforestation as a necessary
step to fight against Global Warming. He spoke on the way
different studies have confirmed that trees help in reducing the
temperature of a place in a significant way. The Chief Guest was
acknowledged with a token of respect by the Principals Mrs.
Sanjukta Dash and Mr. Sanjeeb Kumar Baboo.
A WORKSHOP ON GOAL SETTING
A Work Shop on Goal Setting was organized by
Vikash Group of Institutions Sason. Mr. Naveen Tewari was
the Chief Speaker at the occasion. Goal Setting is an
i porta t aspe t of stude ts’ life. The stude ts at higher
secondary level often face problems in choosing the
appropriate subjects for their study. This topic was
illustrated through different playful activities in which the
students participated. The Chief Guest was acknowledged
with a token of respect by the Principals Mrs. Sanjukta Dash
and Mr. Sanjeeb Kumar Baboo.
The Eyes are useless when the mind is blind
As a part of the Foundation Course activities we organize an outing to the most scenic place in the
Sambalpur locality that is Hirakud Dam on 28.04.2017, in the evening. We have gone to Gandhi Minar,
Basant Nivas and observe the nature’s gift there and catch hold some of the beautiful scene in our eyes
and through the lenses of cameras. Students of FC of both CBSE and CHSE wing enjoyed a lot along with
the faculty members and share not only the snacks but also their heartiest feelings with each other. This
leads to more close understanding and a better bonding between the teachers and the taught. It will be
memorable for all of us for a long time.

Beauty lies i the eye of eholder , a healthy eye is esse tial for proper isio . Keepi g this i mind we have organized a free eye check up camp on 24.04.2017 in support of TRILOCHAN NETRALAYA
Sambalpur. Thanks to Dr. Shiba Prasad Sahu and his team for their whole hearted support and use of
advance technology for eye testing of our students. It is their timely advice that has lead to proper
treatment of the eye sight problems of many of our students.

With this we are coming close to another summer vacation I hope students of our
institution will properly utilize their time to work on their weak areas and simultaneously
