We are busy, busy, busy as they say in “Frosty the Snowman”. This month’s store time will be some holiday books including, There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Bell, Spot’s Magical Christmas, and How The Grinch Stole Christmas. Our classroom art activities will be based off of our books. For our sensory time we will be playing with different types of dough. With the hustle and bustle of the holidays we will not be having a family project sent home but we encourage our families to enjoy this precious time with your families. We would like to remind our parents, our class does go outside if weather permits. We wish you a safe and blessed month of December. “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6. We’re quickly coming to the end of 2017. The Christmas program will be on December 13th and Santa will be visiting on December 15th. We will have our Pajama Christmas room party on December 22nd. Look for the sign up sheet to bring goodies to share. We will be closed to enjoy time with our families from December 23rd until January 2nd. We wish all our families a safe and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Ho Ho Ho! It’s December and our class will be having lots of Christmas fun. We have been practicing for our Nativity Play and have been learning that Jesus is the true reason for the season. This month we will work on letters L-N. As some of you may have heard, we have a scout elf in our class this month. The children named him Ryan Barry. We will be working on being kind to others so Ryan Barry gives Santa a good report. We’d like to wish all of our families a blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year. Fun Activity to try at Home: Cinnamon-Dough decorations To make the cinnamon dough, in a bowl mix together four parts cinnamon, three parts applesauce, and one part glue. Help your child flatten the dough on a floured surface and use cookie cutters to cut shapes from the dough. Use a straw to cut a hole in the top of each shape so it can be hung after drying for at least 48 hours.

Turkey day is over and Santa has officially arrived. Trees and decorations are going up! Elves have arrived and the season is getting busy. We have started to practice for our Christmas program and we are looking forward to our Christmas party and visit from Santa. We continue to work on our letters and sound knowledge, plus syllables in our name. Some are starting to write their names and we are continuing to do one to one correspondence. Some of our friends are interested in space, so we are touching on this concept. We are taking small steps since the concept of living on a planet names Earth is a lot to take in. We will be making some of our own decorations and also presents for mom and dad. No peeking please! We are hoping everyone has a joyful and blessed holiday.

Except for the weather, “its beginning to look a lot like Christmas”. The children are certainly excited by the decorations, Santa, and the prospect of toys. Just as important, they are learning about the nativity and the true meaning of Christmas. We are practicing for our Christmas program and we hope to see all our families that evening. The children are looking forward to making their parents Christmas presents and cards. Also, we hope to take a look at other culture’s holiday traditions. The children will be taking home a “Countdown to Christmas” activity that we hope you will help them with as we get closer to that wonderful day.
