Unbelievable
The Gospel of Mark
Sundays & Wednesdays of Lent February 26 - April 12
If Jesus was just a man, then the stories about what he did simply couldn’t be true. Humans
cannot perform miracles or rise from the dead. The things he claims about himself are just...
unbelievable. Jesus calls his disciples to take up their cross and follow him. The only
reason to follow Jesus is if he truly is the Son of God. During the next 40 days, you are
invited to join Jesus on his journey toward the cross as we walk through the Gospel of Mark
together. This series will include a daily Bible reading and special Wednesday night services
as we unpack the unbelievable life, death, and resurrection of Jesus.

Following Easter New Message Series, Study, and Events
Red Letter Challenge More Information Coming March 15!
Happy spring everyone! (Or almost, anyway)! We
have entered our church season of Lent--a time of
reflection in considering all that Jesus has done for us.
As we gather for Lenten meals throughout the
season, I encourage you to come whenever you can.
This special time of fellowship allows us to connect
with other members, especially if you always attend
the same service. Who knows--you may just make
some new friends from "the other service"!
Besides the joy and excitement of Easter, Pastor
Elliott has a very special Bible study for everyone to
look forward to! The Elders and some other groups
are doing a pilot study before the big Kickoff, to be held the Sunday after Easter, of the Red Letter
Challenge. So far, I have found this Challenge to be a
"Call to Action" where we not only believe in Jesus
and try to be good Christians, but really concentrate
on putting our faith into action! The Challenge
provides plenty of practical tips to do just that on a
daily basis--40 days, to be exact.
We have a great caring, loving, serving congregation
here at Fountain of Life. But we can always improve,
grow in our relationship with Jesus, and get more
people excited to join us in truly following Jesus'
teachings through His own Word. I believe the Red
Letter Challenge will be a great time of unity and
growth for all of us! Many more details to come…
Wishing you all a very blessed Lent and Easter!

God is so Good! Those of you who attended the
2020 Budget meeting in December will remember
that we shared our financial status as of the end of
November, and that we were on track to exceed our
giving estimates for 2019. We are pleased to report
that indeed giving to the general fund exceeded our
budgeted needs by almost $20,000! This congrega-
tion's love for the Lord, one another, and Fountain of
Life is reflected in its generosity. Praise God!
The Board of Servant Leaders will be seeking to
replace one member who is rotating off after serving
a full term. We will also be seeking a congregational
Secretary and Treasurer. The Board of Elders will be
seeking two new members as well. Are you interest-ed in serving in one of these leadership roles? Or
maybe you know just the right person to nomi-
nate? Wayne Travis, Robert Fix, and Deb Hayward
serve as the Nominating Committee, so please put
names forward by contacting one of them. If you'd
like more information about the responsibilities of
these roles, please let me know and I'd be happy to
speak with you about them. We are confident that as
you prayerfully consider these needs, God will lift up
the members He has identified to serve.
Continued blessings to you and your families!

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE SNOW?!
WHERE ARE THE SINGLE DIGIT TEMPERATURES?!
THAT'S OK! Let’s leave it alone. I hope I have your attention now.
Pastor Elliott has been talking to us about loving our neighbor as ourselves and
loving God with all our heart, with all our soul and with all our mind. You can
believe that all this love is producing energy that is keeping us warmer this
year… we've come around to the subject. It's warmer in Life Groups because of
the energy produced by the love of the people in our groups. Circles are
warmer than rows.
You are invited to warm up in a Life Group. Please contact Pat Shaw or Larry
Scott and we will help get you in a group.
There are some new exciting events coming up.
Be a part of it.
Don't be left out in the cold.
February, brrr... however not so this year. And with March coming up "In like a Lion, out like a Lamb”, one of those
March weather sayings (as March is the most changeable weather month) who knows what we will see. What we
DO KNOW is We have a Lion and a Lamb, it is Jesus Christ (Rev 5: 5-14).
He is the balance in our lives. He NEVER changes! He gives us strength to get through all sorts of problems,
sickness, and issues in our lives. And he calls on each of us to help our brothers and sisters.
Your visitation ministry is out and about looking to visit you or your family members, to help you spiritually if you
can’t make it to church. I am here to come by, provide communion, and visit with you whether sick or well.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me to set up a visit. I will be reaching out to YOU as well.
Love In Christ, Jan Lonnecker

SUPPORT FOR MISSION ECUADOR NEEDED
Each one of you can be involved in global missions
through your support of Mission Ecuador. There
are several ways you can add to the mission work.
Pray
Prayers are always needed for the team and Pan de
Vida. Ask God to prepare the hearts of team
members to share God’s love with the beneficiaries
at Pan de Vida. Ask God to work with all
volunteers at Pan de Vida to meet the spiritual and
physical needs of those they serve.
Encourage Others to Serve
Encourage others at Fountain of Life to consider
serving in Ecuador this summer. A personal
invitation to those you think could grow in their
faith through service in global missions may prompt
someone to volunteer for the mission team.
Financial Support & Fundraisers
Financial support is needed for the mission team.
Donate
Donation envelopes may be found in the
pews. Please consider a special gift to support our
church’s mission work in Ecuador.
Upcoming Fundraiser
Dewey’s Bakery Sale
March 29 - April 12
A new fundraiser will be introduced this year with
participation in the Dewey’s Bakery project. You
may purchase their famous Moravian cookies,
Moravian sugar cakes and cheese straws at a table in
the narthex beginning March 29th. Or, you may
place an order with any youth or adult participating
in mission trips this summer for delivery by Easter
Sunday, April 12th.
Your continued support of global missions
is vital to Fountain of Life.
You can
“Follow Jesus, Love One Another, and Serve the World”

Choir The choir is excited to begin new choir music for
the traditional worship services. There are opportu-
nities for soloists and choir members to partici-
pate! Singing with the choir is a wonderful way to
serve at FOL, and helps lead the congregation in
song during worship. We especially need soprano
and alto voices at this time, but are always excited to
see new faces! During Lent, rehearsals will start
after Wednesday Lenten services, around 7:30pm.
Rehearsal Dates:
February 26, March 4, 11,18, 25, April 1, and Thurs-
day, April 9.

Men’s Group
The Fountain of Life Men’s Scholarship was estab-
lished in 1992 by Fountain of Life Men’s Group. The
Scholarship Fund is maintained and supported by
the Men’s Group. The resources to maintain this
fund comes from donations from the fundraising
efforts of all who participate in the Spring yard sale,
the Fall BBQ sale, profits from the soda machine
and any other fundraisers we might have as well as
cash donations from members and prior recipients.
The application process starts March 1st and the
deadline to turn in applications is Sunday, April
19, 2020. The committee will review and advise each
applicant no later than June 30.
Fine Print
The Scholarship Fund will be limited to rising freshmen wheth-
er they elect a 2yr or 4yr school. Should we only have a few
applicants—we would not disburse all the funds that year.
We have established 4 main points that each applicant will be
considered under, followed by the weight that should be
placed on each item. They are:
• Financial Need - 40%
• Academics – 15%
• Involvement in the Church - 20%
• Statement of belief/Commitment to faith in Christ - 25%
If, during the 1st year, a candidate receives the funds and
leaves school for any reason other than health/family prob-
lems—they are expected to return the funds.

March: Come join the Fountain of Books Club
when we meet on Friday, March 13 to discuss The
Girl in the Blue Coat by Monica Hess.
It is a powerful, compelling coming-of-age story set
against the dark and dangerous backdrop of World
War II. It's an important and page-turning look at the
choices all of us--including young adults--have to make in wartime. A beautiful combination of heart-
break, loss, young love, and hope.
April: The book selection for April 3 (note the date
change) is The Memory Keepers Daughter by
Kim Edwards. Here is a story that follows the lives
of Dr. David Henry, his wife, Norah, and their twin
children who are secretly separated at birth. On a
winter night in 1964, Dr. Henry is forced by a bliz-
zard to deliver his own twins. His son, born first, is
perfectly healthy. Yet when his daughter is born, he
sees immediately that she has Down's Syndrome.
Rationalizing it as a need to protect Norah, his wife,
he makes a split-second decision that will alter all of
their lives forever. He asks his nurse to take the ba-
by away to an institution.
