From last year's

swap meet

Message from our President

Hi to all Members of

the Mother Lode Model

T Club:

June is upon us and

everyone knows that

means Swap Meet time.

Saturday June 2, 2018 is our set up day and Sunday

June 3, 2018 is the day of the event. I am looking

forward to another successful swap meet this year.

The swap meet takes a lot of hard work and long

hours from our membership, which I am so grateful

for all the help and participation from the entire

club. If a job needs to be done all I need to do is ask

and someone will take care of it, a big thank you to

everyone in advance.

We had our second tour of the year on May 19th,

which was co hosted by Rich and Bertie Baughman

and John Saylor. The tour was scheduled to go to

the California Automobile Museum in Old

Sacramento for an Armed Forces Day Celebration,

but had to be changed last minute due to the Amgen

Bicycle Tour scheduled to shut down some of the

streets in the Old Sacramento area. So with some

quick thinking on the tour leader's part it was

changed to Farm & Tractor Days in Rio Linda,

which turned out to be a real fun tour. I would like

to have a Monday June 11th Board Meeting to

review the Swap Meet. All members' are welcome

to attend.

I would like to thank everyone for all your

support and help in keeping the Mother Lode Model

T Club active. Look forward to seeing all of you at

the Swap Meet. Your President,

Gary Krezman T Diggins' page 1

** Farm & Antique Tractor Days - **

The May 19 tour was originally planned to be a

leisurely drive to the California Auto Museum. But we

found out about 5 days before that the Amgen bike tour

would be making its final start and stop in downtown

Sacramento, with many road closures, along with Sac

State graduation, a regional volley ball tournament and

a game at Raley Field, resulting in a traffic and parking

mess we did not want

to negotiate in our T's.

So we made a change

to attend the Farm and

Tractor Show at Dry

Creek Ranch in Rio

Linda. We had a nice

morning drive to the

show with parking on

the grass. There was a large showing of one and two

cylinder engines many powering water pumps, washing

machines, a walnut huller, a ferris wheel, and a model

hay bailer to name a few. There was a good showing of

old tractors of several

makes like Farmal, Allis

Chalmers and John Deere.

Some of us were seen

taking the hay ride. The

show had a variety of

booths with craft and

homemade items. Those

making the drive were Rich & Bertie Baughman

leading the way in their 1917 Touring; Gary Krezman

and grandson, 30 Model

A; Erik & Roger Barrett in

a 1917 Dodge; Bobby

Weitzel and Russ Purvis

in Bobby's latest addition,

1924 Touring; Allen Koch

in his 1924 Speedster;

John Saylor in his '27

Tudor; Mike & Pat Bashore in their 1930 Model A

Coupe and Ed & Sherry Rodriquez in their modern car.

Meeting us there were Milt Webb and Daughter in a

1925 Coupe, also Janice Saylor, Son-in-law, Jesse, with

Luke and Colin.

Meeting Minutes

Mother Lode Model T Club - Meeting Minutes, May 10th 2018 at Sizzler Restaurant, Auburn, CA.

The Meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM by President Gary Krezman who opened the meeting with the announcement that Topher Matson & family were relocating to Santa Cruz, and was necessarily resigning from the Board. Gary then announced that Phil Lawrence had graciously agreed fill this vacancy. Greeter Report - Junette noted that Bill & Debbie Bamber were present this evening after a long absence.

Sunshine - Susie reported that she had sent a get well card to Toni Moore who was recovering from surgery. Treasurer Report - Sherry Rodriquez reported that the Club’s income was $176.91, and expenses of

$2,692.10 due to preparation activities for our upcoming annual swap meet on Sunday June 3rd. The Club remains in a very sound financial position. Secretary Report - Steve Short reported that the April general meeting minutes were published in the Club’s

monthly newsletter. Hearing no corrections, Steve Short declared the minutes accepted as written. Steve also reported that Sherry Rodriguez had received a very nice 'Thank You' letter to our Club for financially adopting their 1914 Ford Model T Car from now until 12/31/18. VP - Upcoming 2018 Activities Report - Susie Krezman provided the following overview:

May 19th - The Tour to the CAM has been canceled due to Downtown Events in conflict with our original plan. However, we will tour to Rio Linda and the join in the Farm and Tractor Days. Meet same time, same place, 8:30 Raley's Loomis, Horseshoe Bar Rd. Leave by 9 AM. June 2nd & 3rd - 45th Annual Mother Lode Swap Meet, Gold Country Fair Grounds, Auburn, CA.

July 8th - Antique Car Tour, BBQ & Ice Cream Social- David Pava details are on the website. August 18th - Breakfast (beat the Heat) Tour led by Richard and Bertie Baughman. Details TBD. September will possibly include a Tour. Details TBD October - Manifold Cook Out Tour - Saylor December – Coloma Christmas Tour to visit the historic homes in the Holiday Season. Details TBD.

Recent Tour Reports - Susie Krezman provided the following overview: The Shakedown Tour was a huge success this year with a turnout of well over 20 cars, bolstered by the Sacramento Clubs participation! The tour was organized into 3 groups of cars departing about 10 minutes apart for safety and courtesy, and the trip was completed without any break down incidents. Gordon Goodell was once again disappointed that he has to continue holding the club breakdown Trophy for another month or two! All the tourers were very pleased with the tour of the North Star Mine Museum in Grass Valley. Phil Lawrence delivered an incredible personal effort to assist a member from the Sacramento Club who suffered a medical problem during the tour. Kudos to Phil’s actions!

Old Business - Community Services Follow up: Gary Krezman and John Saylor reported that they still have not

found a satisfactory solution to developing a scholarship program. It was suggested that we should consider whether or not Sierra College might be a possibility. They will continue their search. MLMTC 50th Anniversary: Gary again took note of the fact that 2019 would be the club’s golden

anniversary and that numerous ideas were discussed at the most recent Club Board Meeting. John Saylor made note that the Orange County Model T Club is celebrating their 60th club anniversary by developing a video story of their history. The Board wishes for all of the membership to contribute their ideas and add to this list of possibilities!

New Business - On Line Purchase of MLMTC clothing: John Saylor proposed this solution to possibly meet our needs for the membership instead of stockpiling an unknown quantity, in unknown sizes. John will explore this possibility after the swap meet is behind us.

Club Auction - None was held this Evening. Stories and Show and Tell -

A large group of MLMTC Members attended the Bakersfield Swap Meet including John Boorinakis,

Eric Barrett, Bill Finkbeiner, and Rich Baughman. All enjoyed the weather, all agreed that there was lots of Model T stuff for sale (far better than Turlock’s event), but overall, the Vendors were pretty light, and Saturday was pretty dead overall. Erik Barrett also reported that he had very successful sales. Erik Barrett reported that he and Bobby Weitzel and their Wild Cherry Racing Team had their first win

beating out the Model A’s by a few hundredths of a second. Even more amazing is that their car blew a tire but still won the race and went home without otherwise breaking more expensive parts!

Responsibility for obtaining and delivering lunch sandwiches for the field set up crew has not yet been assigned. Full volunteer staffing assignments have not yet been confirmed, but Gary will review and confirm the specifics for all workers. John Saylor reported that he has had some very successful Swap Meet advertising placements. Good
